Candle Day at Bath & Body Works Starts Tonight Online - Lists & Reviews

Once a year Bath & Body Works offers their 3-wick candles for only $8.95 each. This year they have a retail value of $24.50 so it's quite the bargain. If you are a Rewards Member you can start purchasing them online at 10 pm tonight otherwise the sale begins at midnight. The coupon code is "CANDLEWIN" for Reward Members and "CANDLEDAY" for all others. In stores, the sale will begin as soon as they open the doors which varies so I recommend calling your store tonight and asking when they open tomorrow, Saturday, December 1st. If you are not a rewards member be sure to download their app. It is currently offered in only a few cities in stores. I happen to be in one of the areas that it is offered, Raleigh/Durham. Lines will be long at the stores, so only go if you can stand crowds and a very long wait. People will be lined up before they even open. Be careful, sometimes people drop candles or knock into them. Coupons can be used in stores but not online plus you will have to pay $6.99 for shipping. But if you're like me and can't handle long lines, it's worth it. On Candle Day they offer their current selection of winter candles, some leftover fall candles plus some returning favorites from all seasons. Since there is a limit of 15 candles, I thought I would assist you in creating your shopping list.

Here's a list of the returning favorites that we've waited a long time to return:
  1. French Baguette - 2012 creation, slow rising dough, crispy crust and fresh out of the oven aroma
  2. Boathouse Row - 2013 creation, green sage, fresh pomegranate with notes of bay leaves & moss
  3. Gelato - 2013 creation, vanilla ice cream, lemon candy with notes of strawberry & raspberry puree
  4. Fresh Bamboo - 2008 creation, sweet bamboo, lush jasmine, and wild grasses
  5. Caribbean Escape - 2010 creation, creamy coconut milk, raw sugarcane, and raspberry nectar
  6. Party Dress - 2013 creation, peonies, soft jasmine, and orchid petals
  7. Banana Split Milkshake - 2018 creation, the scent of sweet banana, chocolate sauce and a cherry on top (online exclusive)
  8. Pink Petal Tea Cake - 2014 creation, pink rose petals, pound cake, and a vanilla glaze (online exclusive)
Look how cute the label is on French Baguette! I recommend this one, it smells like sourdough bread baking in the oven. It has a bit of a sour scent to it, so if that's not your cup of tea I recommend Pumpkin Donut Shop instead. It has the scent of freshly made donuts, it's not too sweet and it's not sour. I've bought two of these so far, love it! Boathouse Row is one that is loved by many. I don't care for it since it smells like cologne. The only cologne scent I like is Mahogany Teakwood yet I tire of this one from time to time. Pink Petal Tea Cake has a very large following yet to me it just smells like roses. I don't smell any bakery notes so I was very disappointed. I still have 1/2 of the candle to burn, so I'm not a fan. While I like rose scents this one is too plain. I prefer their Winter Rose candle. Note that Pink Petal Tea Cake candle is sadly an online exclusive! I know a lot of people will be very upset. I burned Caribbean Escape half way through and stopped, so that's another one I don't recommend.

Other returning favorites that we've seen in recent years:
  1. Red Velvet Cupcake - lush red velvet cake, cream cheese frosting, and sweet vanilla
  2. Watermelon Lemonade - watermelon ice, sparkling water, and Meyer lemon
  3. Hot Cocoa & Cream - decadent milk chocolate, fresh steamed milk, and mini marshmallows
  4. Eucalyptus Mint - fresh eucalyptus, sweet spearmint, lemon peel, and clary sage
  5. Marshmallow Fireside - cedarwood & palo santo essential oils with notes of toasted marshmallow and vanilla
  6. Sun-washed Citrus - Sorrento lemons, citron and agave nectar
  7. Winter Woods - made with cedarwood essential oil with notes of cashmere musk & vanilla bean
  8. Mahogany Coconut - creamy coconut, mahogany woods, and English lavender
  9. Forest Flurries - lemon and orange peel essential oils with notes of eucalyptus and patchouli
  10. Cranberry Pear Bellini - fizzy pear nectar, sparkly red cranberries, lush apricot, and tart black currant
  11. Hot Buttered Rum - dark buttered rum, warm caramel, mulling spice and vanilla bourbon
  12. Spice - red cinnamon sticks, Christmas clove buds, and applewood bark
  13. Creamy Nutmeg - grated nutmeg, cinnamon stick, sugared almonds, and creamy vanilla
  14. Mint Chocolate - sweet peppermint, creamy vanilla bean, decadent chocolate, and handmade marshmallow
  15. Chestnut & Clove - warm roasted chestnut, fresh ground clove, and cedarwood
  16. Ocean Driftwood - beachside oak, sea-washed mahogany, and ocean lavender

  19. Mineral Springs - soothing mineral water, night blooming lily, and a dash of lime
  20. White Tea & Ginger - thyme, sage oil, and sandalwood
  21. Pineapple Mango - fresh pineapple juice, mango, vine-ripened raspberry
  22. Merry Mistletoe - frozen cranberries, sparkling pear, icy peppermint, and balsam branches
  23. After the Snow - fir balsam & patchouli essential oils with notes of black peppercorn and cinnamon
  24. Midnight Blue Citrus - juicy citrus, fresh spring water, and sweet mango
  25. Cactus Blossom - cactus flower petal, sun-kissed coconut, and fresh sparkling lemon
  26. White Peach - juicy peaches, dew-covered leaves, and a hint of vanilla
  27. Vanilla Snowflake - frozen vanilla, iced fir needles, mint leaf and coconut flakes
I have purchased Red Velvet Cupcake many years and multiples since I enjoy it so much. The last batch I bought was a bit on the artificial side, I didn't like it as much as previous years. It's enjoyable even so and I recommend purchasing at least one if you love baked goods scents. It can get tiresome, so I would only buy a couple. It's not overly sweet and the vanilla is very light. It's mostly a mix of cake and cream cheese frosting. Watermelon Lemonade is another favorite of mine, but I prefer to purchase it in the spring and summer. It's a refreshing scent and it smells as it's described. Hot Cocoa & Cream is fabulous if you love the scent of hot cocoa or chocolate. It has a heavy chocolate scent though I do find it makes me crave chocolate sometimes, so you have to be in the mood for that. It's perfect for while you are eating some chocolate! I usually buy several of these to use year round. It smells exactly like chocolate, not too sweet and I don't smell any marshmallow. While I'm a fan of eucalyptus I'm not a fan of spearmint so I skip the Eucalyptus Mint candle. I highly recommend Marshmallow Fireside if you like marshmallow scents and the scent of a fireplace with real wood burning with a ever so slight cologne scent. I have two different editions leftover with different descriptions than this year's. The most recent with a price tag of $24.50 says "made with notes of toasted vanilla, and cedarwood essential oil. The older one with a price tag of $22.50 says "toasted marshmallow, smoldering woods, fire-roasted vanilla and crystalized amber". The younger one smells more like marshmallow to me which I prefer. I still have one and a half of the older one left, so I don't fancy it as much. I wish they wouldn't change favorite candles ingredients. Why mess with perfection! I highly recommend Spice, it's one of my favorites that I buy multiples of. If you like Holiday, you'll love this one too. If I remember correctly, it's a Slatkin creation that came out at the same time as Evergreen another favorite of mine. They are both the perfect candle to get you in the Christmas spirit. Mint Chocolate is a winner, I'm glad they brought it back. The other mint candle, White Mint Latte smells artificial to me in comparison. I rejected it after a couple of burns. Mint Chocolate is like Hot Cocoa & Cream with a bit of peppermint candy added. It smells like mint chocolate candy, yum! Tis the Season is enjoyable, but not my favorite. I buy it every couple of years when they aren't offering enough cinnamon candles. If you like balsam candles, you'll like Merry Mistletoe. It's perfect for those that don't like a strong balsam scent like Fresh Balsam and who enjoy fruity scents.  I prefer a stong balsam, so I skip this one.

Note the Online Exclusives:
  1. Banana Split Milkshake - 2018 creation, the scent of sweet banana, chocolate sauce and a cherry on top
  2. Pink Petal Tea Cake - 2014, pink rose petals, pound cake, and a vanilla glaze
  3. Sparkling Woods - lavender & fir needle essential oils with notes of bergamot & iced lemon
  4. Campfire Pumpkin - fall pumpkin, nutmeg, vanilla bean, and smoky cinnamon
  5. Pumpkin Donut Shop - sweet bakery air, vanilla glaze, fluffy cake donut, and pumpkin spice
Sparkling Woods smells like cologne, we hated it and I will be returning it. I rarely return a candle since I really hate returning things, so it's that bad. I didn't detect any fir needle, lemon or lavender which I love. As I said above, Pink Petal Tea Cake was very disappointing for all I smell is roses with no bakery notes. Campfire Pumpkin is similar to the other fireplace candles, there are better ones, I'd pass. Pumpkin Donut Shop is one of my favorites as noted above, it's not sour like French Baguette yet it's not too sweet either. I recommend it and I have purchased two.

Note that there are several different labels being offered for many of their scents this year so you may want to type in the name of the candle in the search engine and chose the label you prefer. Also, check out their descriptions in case they vary. There are also some more summer candles that they have added but are not labeled as new such as: Paris, New York, Root Beer Float, Orange Cream Soda, BoardwalkPoolside, Tea & Lemon (aka London), Georgia Peach, Island Margarita, Suntan, Mango Mai Tai, Waffle Cone, Iceland, Italy, Island Papaya, Cherry Snow Cone, Black Cherry Merlot, Costa Rica, Coconut Water, Thailand, Tiki Beach, Salt Flower, Copper Coconut, and Watermelon Ice. I recommend Boardwalk if you like super sweet scents and popcorn scents. I enjoy it every couple of years, sometimes it's just too sweet for me. London is at the very top of my favorites list. I highly recommend it if you enjoy lemon scents, not at all like lemon pledge. It's similar to Limoncello but fancier and more earthy. I find it to be a very relaxing scent. Thailand is also lovely, it's a very earthy scent that I really enjoy. If you love the scent of your spice cabinet, this one is for you.

Ok, well that took much longer than I thought. I hope you find it helpful since it was so time consuming. Now that I have thoroughly examined the new candles that they have added online here's my shopping list: Spice, Hot Cocoa & Cream, French Baguette, Banana Split Milkshake, and Mint Chocolate. If you were able to get a sniff of Banana Split Milkshake, please tell me what you thought. I'm not sure if I'll like that one since I never saw it in stores. I already repurchased Yuletide, Holiday, Donut Shop, Evergreen, Pumpkin Cupcake, Spiced Gingerbread Swirl, Fresh Balsam, Winter, Red Velvet, Leaves, and London. I'll wait for Boardwalk and Watermelon Lemonade to return in the summer. Is Merry Cookie good this year? I'm tempted to purchase another Maple Pancakes it smells just like hot maple syrup. So what's on your shopping list and are you shopping online or in stores or both?
