This is a review of a new movie called Fighting with My Family that hit theatres on February 22nd. It's a comedic drama based on the true story of a young female wrestler named Saraya-Jade Bevis whos wrestling name is Paige. It's one hour and forty-eight minutes long. I wouldn't consider it a comedy. I found it to be more an emotional drama about a working-class family struggling financially and emotionally trying to achieve their dream of making it into the WWE. It has a few jokes thrown in and it has an emotional ending that had me in tears. You may want to take a tissue or two with you. I went to see it because I'm a fan of Dwayne Johnson the actor, I'm not familiar with him as a wrestler. I was disappointed that he had less than ten minutes of screen time, but the story and the other actors made up for it. The only other actors I'm familiar with in this movie are Vince Vaughn and Kim Matula. Lena looks familiar but I can't place where I've seen her. Kim Matula, you may recognize if you are a Bold & the Beautiful soap opera fan. You don't have to be a wrestling fan to enjoy this movie though it's not necessary to see it on a big screen. I'd wait until it's available on demand or on DVD. Florence did an amazing job acting in this movie especially since she had big shoes to fill being in almost every scene. I also enjoyed the acting by Jack. He did an amazing job making you feel sorry for him while watching him dealing with his emotions which leads you to root for him. Vince Vaughn did a pretty good job with his character though I find I enjoy his performance much more in a comedy rather than a drama. Nick and Lena did a great job acting as her parents. They were fun to watch especially the scenes with the parents of their son's girlfriend. Check out the trailer and see if it piques your interest enough to go see it:
Here's an example of the kind of jokes in the movie, they give me just a little chuckle, I don't find them hilarious:
