This is a review of a fairly new movie theatre located in the Waverly Place shopping center in Cary, North Carolina called Cinébistro. They have other locations in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Ohio, and Virginia. In Cary, they have a large waiting area which includes a bar and a seating area. The decor is lovely:

You can buy your tickets online via Fandango and pick them up at the kiosk when you arrive simply by swiping the credit card you used to purchase them. There is also a ticket desk nearby if you didn't order online. Mind you, I would recommend ordering in advance since they are large recliner seats, there aren't many seats per theatre. Unfortunately, there is a $1.50 service charge per ticket to order online. Tickets cost $15.02 per adult for matinees and $17.16 for evening shows prior to the service charge. I purchased our tickets the night before. We arrived a bit after the thirty-minute deadline to order food and they still allowed us to order. We came for a 1 pm showing of Mission Impossible Fallout on a Friday. It wasn't very busy, there were only a few customers in our theatre:

Movie Seating

There were six rows and we were in the fifth row, the sixth row was mostly handicap seating. The seats are in pairs, loveseats. They don't offer stadium seating, so for someone short like me (5' 4") people's heads blocked the bottom of the movie screen. I imagine anyone much shorter would find that quite annoying, but I was fine with it.

They offer lunch or dinner prior to the movie, but you have to arrive thirty minutes before the movie time to order your food and drinks. If you arrive after the movie's start time, you can place an order at the concessions area which is near the theatres. I really like how you don't have to go back to the lobby for concessions, it's much quicker since they are in the hallway of the theatres instead. Their menu includes appetizers, entrees, salads, sides, sandwiches, desserts, soft drinks, popcorn, alcoholic beverages (cocktails, wine, beer, champagne), candy and a kid's menu. I ordered a beer since it's a better deal than the wine.

Beer - $6.50

Hubby ordered the Moroccan Lamb Lollies and Sautéed Broccoli. The lamb dish is described as "Moroccan spice-crusted lamb, honey-lemon broth, salted almonds, and cilantro". The broccoli side dish is described as "parmesan aioli and parmesan crisps". I ordered the Crispy Mahi Soft Tacos off the appetizer menu which are described as "jicama & cilantro slaw, Fresno chili, and chipolte aioli".

Moroccan Lamb Lollies & Sautéed Broccoli - $15.00 & $5.00

Crispy Mahi Soft Tacos - $11.50

Hubby loved both of his choices and was very happy, though it wasn't very filling. I also loved my appetizer, but I should have ordered a side because it was just a snack-sized portion. They were very tasty, I would recommend them. Note that everything on the menu is on the expensive side, so if you are watching your budget I'd recommend eating before or after the movie elsewhere. This was one of Hubby's rare days off, so we treated ourselves and that day we were running late, so we ran out of time to eat elsewhere which was our original plan. Any food you order prior to the movie will be delivered before the movie starts. There is no service once the movie starts, so you'll need to visit the concession area if you want any more food or drinks. This is so that there is less disruption during the movie. The movie didn't start until 20 minutes after the showtime. This is a pretty standard waiting time these days. Another movie theatre we went to recently ran even longer, 25 minutes. So we were done eating our food before the movie even started. The popcorn comes in a lovely, large ceramic bowl, it looked pretty tasty and they offer complimentary refills. Non-alcoholic drinks also have complimentary refills, but you will have to retrieve them on our own after the movie starts. If you order before the movie they will automatically charge you an 18% tip. I'm not a big fan of that since we usually tip 20% if the service is great and lower if we aren't treated well. Fortunately, the service was pretty good. The waitress who took our order was very friendly, a bit overly energetic and in your face for my taste, but ok. She also asked a lot of questions, trying to make small talk, not a big fan. Another young lady brought our food which was much faster than I expected. Our drinks were delivered within a few minutes and the food was delivered in about eleven minutes. I wasn't really sure if it would be my cup of tea, but I landed up enjoying having my meal at my chair. They offer a cloth napkin, metal cutlery and ceramic plates which is nice. They served my beer in a plastic glass though which isn't great for beer, I prefer chilled glass! Since we finished our food after the previews started, our dinnerware was left on our trays. If that bothers you, be sure to arrive extra early. We enjoyed the experience so we highly recommend you give this theatre and their lunch or dinner service a try!

Note that children under three years old are not allowed in the theatre and no one under the age of 21 is allowed after 6 pm. In addition, anyone under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an adult. This makes for a more peaceful environment which makes date night so much more enjoyable. I have found that other theatres have no sign of management around, so things can get a bit unruly, so to me this theatre is worth a bit more money. If it's not in your regular budget, it's definitely worth it for special occasions. Give it a try!
