This is a review of our 19th delivery from a food subscription box called Plated. I only ordered two dinners and one dessert this time since Hubby was out of town and it was a Wednesday delivery. I gave one recipe five out of five stars, one recipe three stars and one recipe two stars. Calories ranged from 350 to 760 and preparation times ranged from thirty to forty-five minutes. Actual preparation time was forty to fifty-five minutes.

Baked Gnocchi with Crispy Brussels Sprouts

I was really looking forward to this recipe, but I landed up giving it only two out of five stars since I only ate part of one of the three portions. I think it would have tasted better if the gnocchi was boiled prior to placing it in the pan as stated on the label. I was impressed that it was made in Italy, so I'm sad I didn't get to taste it the way it was supposed to be cooked. It had a unpleasant texture as a result of the way they suggested cooking it only in the pan and then baking it. As you can see in the above photo, they dried out the sauce by cooking it in the pan and then baking it. If you haven't tried North Carolina Nello's Sauce yet, drive to Whole Foods and purchase some since it's so wonderful. I've had it in other Plated recipes and we've purchased it at Whole Foods several times. I preferred the taste of the brussels sprouts that were baked on top rather than mixed with the other ingredients though mine weren't crispy. It was a very generous portion easily enough for three portions. It states forty minutes preparation time and it took me forty-one minutes. The calorie count is 750 calories, but remember it was enough for three portions, so that lowers the calories.

Chicken Sausage Pretzel Rolls with Creamy Mustard

I love pretzel bread and sausage so I decided to order this recipe, but we landed up giving it only three out of five stars. We weren't crazy about adding the red pepper to the sandwich and there was way too much of it. We landed up using only a wee bit of what was provided. The sausage, the roll and mustard were tasty but we would have liked more mustard. I'm not a big fan of green beans, but these were yummy with the addition of garlic, parsley, lemon juice, salt and pepper. This recipe has 760 calories and it was a healthy portion. The recipe states forty minutes preparation time and it took Hubby fifty minutes to prepare.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pies

We gave this recipe five out of five stars and it's the second time we have ordered it. My biggest complaint is the price and the portion size. Dessert is $4 a serving. I ordered it because I only wanted two dinner entrees and to get free shipping I added dessert. I think for that price it should offer twice the amount of servings. Not that one would sit down and eat two servings, but eat the second serving the next day. This one is scrumptious and the addition of Maldon Sea Salt on top makes it perfection. If you haven't had Maldon Sea Salt from England before, you owe it to yourself to head to Whole Foods right this second and purchase it! It's the best and it's my favorite salt. Blue Apron is actually the company that introduced me to it. This recipe has 350 calories and it states preparation time to be forty-five minutes. Actual preparation time was fifty-five minutes.

This was another disappointing week of recipes from Plated, so I've decided to take a break. It's really very surprising since most of the previous boxes included four and five star recipes. Since it's one of the most expensive boxes with no referral program it's definitely going on the back burner for awhile. I'm ordering again from Blue Apron since they offered me two free meals to return and we'll be receiving Sun Basket boxes also since they are our current favorite subscription box. What's your favorite food subscription box currently?
