Mango Peach Lassi Smoothie with Greek Yogurt, Orange & Honey Recipe Results

This is a review of the 13th box we have received from a subscription box called Home Chef. This one cost us $69.60 for three dinners and one smoothie for two people. We enjoyed everything this week except the Teriyaki & Sriracha Flat Iron Steaks.

Pan Seared Chicken Bruschetta with Heirloom Baby Tomatoes, Parmesan & Microgreens Recipe Results

This recipe was very good, but would have been perfect if they added some pesto sauce to the pasta, some more parmesan & more garlic. The basil arrived in poor condition yet the micro greens & tomatoes were very fresh. The red onion was really strong and left an aftertaste for hours. I would have preferred wheat pasta so that it would have been a healthier meal. This one came in at 773 calories which seems like a lot considering the ingredients. It took about forty minutes to make and it was a generous portion.

Harissa Grilled Chicken with Arugula, Feta, Heirloom Tomato & Green Bean Salad

I agree with other customers that this would have tasted even better if there had been more Harissa sauce. The picture on the recipe card shows much more sauce. We skipped the radishes since we both don't care for the flavor of radishes. The salad was really delicious, but we would have like much more arugula. I'm not really crazy about green beans, but they were so good mixed with the feta, arugula, tomatoes, dill, sugar, olive oil, green onion, lemon juice, salt & pepper. I think if we make it again we would skip the sugar and see if it still tastes good since we don't like adding sugar to our meals. We don't need to have boring green beans as a side dish anymore, this is a wonderful creation to serve instead. This dish had 493 calories and took about forty-five minutes to prepare. This was good sized portion, though we feel that it should have had more arugula.

Teriyaki & Sriracha Marinated Flat Iron Steak with Wasabi Whipped Potatoes & Roasted Shiitake Mushrooms

This dish was a disappointment. The flat iron steak just wasn't very good at all. The mashed potatoes tasted strange with green onions on top. We skipped some of the butter and all of the wasabi powder. It just seemed like too much butter and it was becoming too thin as we added more. Neither of us like wasabi made from powder. To me it's like drinking milk made from powdered milk, not something I want to do ever due to the horrible taste and it's unhealthy. The mushrooms were really strong, we prefer pan cooking rather than baking. Pan cooking them tones down the earthy flavor and gives them a nice texture. Not to mention oven cooking in the summer just heats up the kitchen too much.  Most of my steak was eaten by our dogs, since I just didn't like the flavor at all. This recipe had a whopping 1099 calories which makes this recipe even more disappointing. It took around forty minutes to prepare.

Mango Peach Lassi Smoothie with Greek Yogurt, Orange & Honey Recipe

This was an enjoyable smoothie for sure. I'm not really crazy about the flavor of mango, I prefer peaches so I was disappointed when I opened the jar to find some of the peaches went bad. They said to add lemon to taste, but I'd prefer that they give us an exact measurement. I tried 1/4 of the lemon and it seemed like a good choice, so I didn't add more. I really didn't want to go through the process of adding more lemon juice and tasting over and over since I didn't have time for that. This was a very generous portion even with less peaches.

I'm expecting the following from Home Chef tomorrow:
  1. Peppercorn Crusted Bacon Wrapped Sirloin with Smokey Sumer Vegetable Hash
  2. Thai Pork Lettuce Wraps with Water Chestnuts & Sesame Dipping Sauce, repeat recipe that we loved back in June.
  3. Spinach Stuffed Chicken with Lemony Roasted Cauliflower
  4. Peachy Lychee Smoothie with Lemon, Pineapple Juice & Honey
  5. Fruit Basket
