This is a review of the twelfth box we have purchased from Home Chef. This week our favorite dinner recipe was the Brasserie Style Sirloin Steak followed by the Turkey & Goat Cheese Meatballs and lastly the Chicken Enchiladas.

Turkey & Goat Cheese Meatballs with Pesto Spaghetti & Baby Arugula

This recipe was pretty good, I just wish it had more pesto sauce. The pesto sauce was already made for us which saved us lots of time and it was really delicious. Either less spaghetti or more pesto sauce would have increased the flavor. We always prefer lots of sauce on our pasta. The grape tomatoes were a bit tart. This recipe had 884 calories which seems like a lot considering the ingredients. It took about 45 minutes to prepare.

Chicken & Cheese Enchilladas with Jalapeño, Corn & Cheese

I'm going to stick to beef enchiladas from now on since I really don't care for chicken enchiladas. This recipe was ok, I just prefer ground beef with enchilada sauce and lots of cheese. The enchilada sauce was leaking all over the tortillas during shipping due to the jar not being tightly closed. Since they gave us more than we need, I just removed & threw away the top and bottom tortillas. The jalapeño was huge and very spicy, we should have perhaps used a bit less. We also forgot to save some to use as a garnish. We both would have liked more sour cream and cheese. This recipe had 623 calories and took around 35 minutes to prepare.

Brasserie Style Sirloin Steak with Truffle Fries, Asparagus & Herb Butter

This meal was heavenly! The steak was restaurant quality, so tender and delicious. The truffle fries were perfect and the asparagus was yummy. Hubby doesn't usually like anything with truffle oil on it, but he loved these fries. The compound butter made of butter, parsley, garlic and salt and pepper was so incredibly delicious. I don't usually eat steak with butter, but this was perfection. Such a simple recipe, yet so much flavor! We will be definitely making that compound butter again since it would be good on so many different things like freshly baked bread, toast and pasta. We will be sure to remember to add that to our next steak. This recipe had 860 calories and took about 45 minutes to prepare. It was worth every calorie due to the intense delicious flavors.

Raspberry Chia Smoothie with Apple, Yogurt & Honey

Since hubby loves Chia seeds and I don't, we put this off until ten days after it arrived since we were out of town on the weekend and then Hubby was on a business trip. The ingredients were still fresh! We always enjoy and look forward to their smoothies. It's a must order item from their menu each and every week. This one was no exception, it was delicious as usual. I didn't mind the chia seeds in this smoothie since they didn't have time to plump up. I really can't stand that texture they have after they have been soaking in juice. I forgot to save two raspberries and some chai seeds to garnish it. It had only 268 calories which seems low considering how much honey went into it.
