This is a review of the eighth box we received from a subscription box called Blue Apron. Our favorite dish this week was the Lentil Crusted Salmon followed by the Beef Dukbokki dish and lastly the Matzoh Chicken.

Lentil Crusted Salmon with Spinach Yogurt Dal & Apricot Chutney

This dish is one of our favorites so far. It tasted like three different dishes in one. The first wonderful flavor was the salmon that was cooked with lentil flour. The second flavor was the Spinach Yogurt Dal which was a wonderful comforting texture and flavor. Third, the Apricot Chutney which tasted so good with a bit of salmon. This is the sweetest chutney I've had and we both enjoyed it a lot. We were sad when our plates were empty and hubby licked his bowl clean. Our dogs were disappointed since we weren't sharing but a little bit with them. I soaked the lentils in the refrigerator for several hours prior to cooking, but I'm not sure it would have been necessary since they were very soft after cooking. Dishes like this one is why we keep getting box after box from Blue Apron. Bravo, Blue Apron, this one is a winner!

Matzoh Crusted Chicken with Orange, Fennel & Golden Beet Salad

Oh how disappointing this dish was, so sad. The beet salad was so horrible and I had an allergic reaction which caused me to have a sore throat for several hours. Beets should be cooked so that is less likely to happen and so it tastes better too! The fennel is pretty tasteless unless it's cooked in a stock or something that will give it some flavor. I had to skip eating the pickled onions since the last pickled item I ate, kimchi, gave me an IBS attack which lasted days. Hubby said he didn't care for the taste and that it took all the intense flavor out of the onion. Our orange was dry as a bone. I've never seen an orange that dry before. So that may have made the salad a bit tasty if it hadn't been too old causing it to lose all of it's juice and have a hard texture. The chicken was good, we liked the matzoh crust. We both left the table hungry since we couldn't stand eating much of the salad.

Beef Dukbokki with Quick Kimchi & Sugar Snap Peas

Since the last dish that had kimchi made me sick for days with an IBS flare up, I skipped that part of the dish. If you have IBS, you know that anything pickled can really cause a lot of gas and pain. This dish was weird, the rice cakes were very strange! The dish was just ok, I wasn't impressed.
