The Walmart in King, North Carolina will open on March 15th 2017. Some residents are excited for it's arrival, but there are others who opposed it for years. Hopefully it's arrival won't ruin the quaint, peaceful and quiet King we have come to know. There were several delays, but it's finally opening. If you are coming from the south on US 52, take the second King exit which is exit 123. Turn right at the traffic light, then turn left at the Walmart sign. It will be on your right past the Taco Bell and Subway. If you are coming from the north, take the first King exit which is 123. Turn left at the traffic light, then turn left at the Walmart sign and it will be on your right. There is a lovely view of Pilot Mountain from the parking lot, so be sure to look for it. I recommend a trip to Pilot Mountain State Park since you'll be in the area. It appears that the "Pick Up" service was an afterthought since there isn't a designated area to pick up your groceries. I highly recommend Walmart's Pick Up Service. Check out my review to learn how it works. Also, there is a pharmacy drive-thru with two slots. There are two entrances to the store. The grocery section is located on the right side of the store and the lawn and garden section is on the left side.
If you aren't familiar with the restaurants in King be sure to check out my restaurant reviews. My top two favorites are Little Italy and Dairi-O. The other restaurants I have reviewed are Thai Cafe and Amigos Mexican Grill. The fast food restaurant choices are Dairi-O, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, Bojangles, KFC, Subway, Dominoes, Papa John's and Pizza Hut. I can only recommend Pizza Hut, McDonalds and Dairi-O. There are three Mexican restaurants in King, the one I recommend is Tlaquepaque Mexican Grill. It's located a couple miles away from Walmart next to the second Food Lion. There are two Food Lions and a Lowe's Food. The Food Lion further away from Walmart has a lovely view of Pilot Mountain.
