This is a review of a Thai restaurant located in High Point, North Carolina called Thai Herb. We visited last Sunday at around 2 pm. Lately I've only been in the mood for sushi, so I've been on the hunt for restaurants that serve sushi. We were immediately greeted by their very friendly sushi chef and were told that the waitress would be out shorty. On the right is the sushi bar and to the left of that is the cash register and a waiting area. Their sanitation score when we were there was 98% which is excellent. Their hours are Monday to Friday from 11 am to 3 pm and then 5 pm to 9 pm. Saturdays they are open from noon to 10 pm and Sundays from noon to 9 pm. At 2 pm they had about only five tables full of customers, so that's a good time to go if you don't like visiting when they are busy during the lunch rush.
We were seated by a very friendly waitress who appeared to be Thai. We were very hungry, so we tried to make our decision on what to order quickly. The sushi chef promptly took our order. A couple minutes later our drink orders were brought out and then he brought out a complimentary salad and spring roll. The salad dressing on the salad was so delicious and a nice change from the usual ginger dressing. The spring roll was tasty and not greasy at all. The dipping sauce was also yummy. We were relieved to receive these free appetizers since we were starving. Hubby & I ordered three sushi rolls to share: Crispy Philly Roll, Crispy Salmon Roll and Crazy Hamachi Roll. They were brought out in only ten minutes which has to be the quickest I've ever received sushi! Which was even more surprising when you look at the amazing presentation, see above! Our favorite out of the three rolls was the Crispy Philly Roll. It is described as "smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocado, deep fried whole roll with spicy mayo and eel sauce". It was scrumptious and perfectly fried without being greasy. The size of the salmon was generous compared to the competition, see above for a close up photo. Our second favorite was the Crispy Salmon Roll which is described as "spicy salmon and asparagus, deep fried whole roll with spicy mayo and eel sauce". The last roll, Crazy Hamachi is described as "spicy yellowtail, cilantro and cucumber, top slice yellowtail, jalapeño with momiji". They were all delicious and three rolls for two people was filling. Each roll costs $10.95. They have a large selection of sushi rolls to chose from, check out their menu. They also offer romance boats, nigiri, sashimi, Thai curry dishes, rice & noodle plates, stir-fried dishes and cocktails. The people sitting near us ordered the rice and noodle plates and they looked delicious. They also offer carry out. If I lived nearby, I would be a regular carry out customer for sure.
I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try soon! We really had a lovely lunch and were impressed by the presentation, taste of the sushi and the extremely friendly, prompt and attentive service. What's your favorite sushi restaurant in the Triad?
