I wasn't sure I would like Ready or Not, but I was willing to give it a try because I especially love movies that take place in old haunted mansions where a murder takes place. Hubby didn't want to go see it, but since it was the movie that was playing when we were done with lunch we went anyway. The trailer reminds me of the movie Clue which was really enjoyable. Take a look:
It's listed as a horror, mystery, black comedy and thriller. It's rated R and it's one hour and forty-five minutes long. Basically, it's a movie about a bride's first night in her in-laws' haunted mansion. The excitement and thrills begin when they play a game called Hide and Seek. There were a couple of startling scenes that make you jump, some cover your eyes scenes of gore and lots of laughing. There was one scene that was hysterical. Mind you I laugh at horror flicks even when they aren't intended to be funny unless they are written like a Hitchcock movie. I don't go to those movies in the theatre because audience members tend to get annoyed at my laughing but I was free to laugh at this one, oh the joy! This movie was wonderfully funny and scary, it was perfect for me. Hubby enjoyed it also, though he didn't laugh as often nor as hard as I did. This one is worth going to see in the theatre since the dark and thrilling parts are enhanced with a large screen and a pitch dark theatre. The main character Grace, the one in the wedding dress was superb in her acting. It was no easy task since she was on screen most of the time and really driving the movie from scene to scene. Her eyes were so big and you could feel her terror. The two supporting characters that were my favorite were the Father in Law and the Aunt. They did a great job of being spooky, wicked characters and you find yourself enjoying your hatred for them. Andie did a great job of making the audience hate her and in turn, love one of the final scenes which I can't reveal. I'm a big fan of Adam Brody, but his performance was a bit weak though his time on screen was quite short. I think he deserved a better much larger part to explore his acting abilities. The movie moved along quickly and there were action and shocking scenes at every turn. There was one scene that didn't show the gore, only the sounds and it was fabulous, your imagination goes wild. This movie was a fun, quick ride with a very satisfying ending. They couldn't have done a better job with the ending, it was fabulous! Bravo!
If you can, I recommend going to see this thrilling movie soon. If you can't, don't forget to see it on DVD. If I had watched this movie on DVD, I would have watched it again right after. I'm sure there were plenty of details I missed and it was so much fun, it's worth seeing a second time. Now it's your turn, take the hand of a friend and go see it now. Get ready for a thrilling fun movie! What great movies have you seen lately?
Have a PEACEful Day!
