Pet Wellbeing Omega-3 Skin & Itch for Dogs Review

Pure Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids

BzzAgent sent me a bottle of Pet Wellbeing Omega-3 Skin & Itch for review since I have one dog that has skin issues due to allergies. In the past, I have tried to give an Omega-3 supplement to my dogs and they have all made a fuss and don't like the taste. They would eat around it or some even refused to eat any of the food in their bowl even though they all love fish. It was very frustrating, I tried many brands and I tried mixing it with different foods. Those versions were made with salmon and this one is made with mackerel, anchovies, herring, and sardines. While they would eat salmon they hated the salmon oil. I had not heard of a version that included whitefish instead and I was thrilled since Leo is on a whitefish diet. I was shocked when I added this to Leo's food and he licked his lips and didn't eat around it. I mixed it in with his vegetables and he ate all of his cod and green beans. I find mixing supplements with vegetables works best since they are so moist. I tried adding it to Bentley's food the next day and I was shocked that he loved it especially since he's a fussy eater. While trying to take the above photo Bentley was either smelling it or licking the bottle as shown. It has a pleasant scent, not fishy at all. I feed my dogs mostly home-cooked meals and treats, some vitamins and a small amount of high-quality dry dog food.

The description by the manufacturer is "this Omega-3 rich oil is derived entirely from wild-caught and sustainably harvested North Atlantic mackerel, anchovies, herring, and sardines. It is pure, cold water fish oil, molecularly distilled at a low temperature so nutrients are not damaged, and full potency is maintained. No additives or preservatives. Sufficient amounts of Omega-3's help support healthy skin and coat, help maintain brain and heart health, and support healthy joints.

I have about 1/4 of a bottle left and I fed it to two small toy breed Maltese dogs once daily for six weeks. So one 8 fl. oz. bottle will last one dog 19 lbs or under about 16 weeks, a four months supply. Give one pump for dogs up to 19 lbs., 21-39 lbs. two pumps, 40-59 lbs. three pumps, 60-79 lbs. four pumps, 80-99 lbs. five pumps, and 100+ lbs. 6 pumps. One bottle costs $32.95, auto-ship offers a 10% discount which brings it down to $29.65. That's only $7.41 a month. Coupon code "Friend10" will give you a 10% discount without auto-ship. Remember, supplements save you money in the long run, reducing the number of vet visits and may extend their life. I highly recommend giving your dog an Omega-3 supplement especially if your dog has any skin, joint or heart issues. Leo's dermatologist and regular vet both recommend Omega-3 supplements. You may want to check with your vet for your dog's specific needs. Note that some vets will only recommend expensive medications to assist after the problem arises rather than giving supplements to prevent problems. That is always a red flag for me.

While this product has not gotten rid of Leo's skin allergy attack of recent, it hasn't gotten so bad that we've had to put him on steroids and antibiotics like we had to last summer and many times prior to that. He also hasn't had any eye or ear infections like he normally gets which require medications. That alone justifies the cost and use of this product. If you have a fussy eater, you may even try this as an additive to entice them to eat. They both love the scent and taste. I like that I don't have to measure out the dosage, just squirt it into their dinner bowl. You can keep it at room temperature or refrigerate. I prefer to refrigerate it. They offer a 90-day money-back guarantee. I will be purchasing this product soon since it has worked well for both of our dogs. It's made in the USA and contains North American wild-caught fish so it gets a thumbs up from me.
