Long Shot Movie Review - May 2019

Long Shot
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Starring:

Charlize Theron as Secretary of State
Seth Rogen as Fred
June Diane Raphael as Charlotte's Assistant
O'Shea Jackson Jr. as Fred's Best Friend
Alexander Skarsgård as Prime Minister of Canada

I'm always looking for a great comedy that will make me laugh and this one did just that. Once I saw the trailer I knew I had to see it since I'm a fan of Charlize and Seth and I thought it would be interesting to see Charlize in a comedy for a change. The last movie I watched of hers, Tully, was so dark and depressing. Not all jokes went over well with the audience though and some jokes only part of the audience laughed at. Check out the trailer:

The supporting cast was very entertaining as well. You may recognize June Diane from Grace & Frankie, she plays a bitchy character again and she's quite good at it. O'Shea is really entertaining and funny as Fred's best friend. I don't remember seeing him in anything before, but I hope to see him in more movies. Long Shot features comedy, friendship, action, romance, fashion, politics and love scenes. My biggest complaint is that there was an excessive amount of cursing, it became annoying and distracting to me. It's as if the writer couldn't come up with any other way to express emotion. This movie is two hours and five minutes long and the first fifteen minutes or so were on the slow side. I give this movie four out of five stars. It is worth seeing in the theatre and watching a 2nd time on DVD or on demand especially if you are a fan of Seth & Charlize. If you've seen this movie, what was your favorite scene? Mine was when she was negotiating to get the hostage back, so funny.
