Carol's Eggs - Heirloom Andean Blue & Chocolat Marans Eggs Review

Free Range Heirloom Andean Blue & Chocolat Marans Eggs

Hubby recently found some interesting eggs called Carol's Eggs at Harris Teeter the other day, so I thought I'd share our treasure with you. We are always in search of the perfect egg with a very dark orange color since we find they have more flavor than your standard caged chicken eggs. While these are more expensive by far coming in around $7.00 to $8.00 for twelve, it's an inexpensive low carb meal. That's only $1.17 to $1.33 for two eggs. If you are purchasing only 6 eggs then they cost around $4.00 to $5.00 a carton. When you are on a low carb meal you find yourself eating a lot of eggs so it's important they be the best one can find. These are free-range chickens meaning they get to roam the pasture instead of living in cages. There is a message inside the box giving more information about these eggs: "All of our hens are from small flocks on real family farms. We are 100% Certified Humane Free Range, which means ample pasture for them to roam, strict guidelines around space inside their barn, access to antibiotic-free feed, water and much more. Our Andean Blue hens lay lovely heirloom eggs in pastel shades of slate blue. This prized breed is derived from the South American Araucana chicken, bred as far back as the 16th century by the Mapuche people of Patagonia. Our Chocolate Marans hens lay dark, rich brown colored eggs. This breed of hen was developed in the early 1900s in the village of Marans, on the marshy, mid-Atlantic coast of France. These eggs are much prized by the chefs of Europe for their exceptional flavor and texture. We are thrilled that we can bring these incredible heirloom eggs back to the American tables by working with our network of small family farms to raise our Certified Humane heirloom hens."

They are very tasty, I recommend that you give them a try next time you see them in your supermarket for sale. Hubby added some shredded cheese, fresh cilantro, fresh jalapeno, and freshly ground pepper to our eggs as shown below:

They are sold at Stop & Shop, Giant, Martin's, Ingles, Earth Fare, Fresh Market, H-E-B's Central Market, Harris Teeter, Shaw's, and Weis Markets. They are also sold at some smaller markets located in MA, NYC, and Los Angeles. Check their website for the full list. Here's a video to learn more:

Have a PEACEful Day!
