Chicken Salad Croissant with Garden Salad - $8.75
This is a review of a fairly new restaurant called Chanticleer located in Cary, North Carolina. They are open seven days a week from 7 am to 3 pm. They serve breakfast, lunch and pastries. They are very popular, so you may not be able to get a seat during the breakfast and lunch rush. My parents and I were there around 1:30 pm so there were plenty of tables available. They have tables and booths inside and outside they have tables. This is the type of restaurant that you order with the cashier, pay and then you wait until you are called to pick up your order when it is ready. Also, the soft drink machine is self-serve. In addition, they ask that you throw out your trash and return the basket, bowls and plates to the designated area.
We all ordered the Chicken Salad Croissant with a Garden Salad. It took about ten minutes for our orders to be ready for pick up. The sides to chose from are pasta salad, cole slaw, potato chips and garden salad. I hear the cole slaw is pretty good. The potato chips look too greasy for me to stomach. The garden salad was very good. It's made with baby greens, red onions, tomatoes, shredded carrots, cucumbers and your choice of dressing. The Chicken Salad was very tasty, but a bit on the sweet side and the croissant was fresh and delicious.
Their main offerings are four sandwiches, quiche of the day, five salads, five panini sandwiches, three breakfast sandwiches, fruit cup, yogurt cup and oatmeal. Prices range from $2.95 to $9.25. They also have soup du jour available in a cup for $3.50 or in a bowl for $4.50. The kids menu is $4.95 and the choices are of four half sandwiches that are served with milk or soda and their choice of apple slices or chips. The bakery offers croissants, danish, brownies, cookies, cheesecakes, fruit tarts, pies and other fresh baked desserts. They all look yummy and their brownies are huge.
