This is a review of the twelfth box we have purchased from Plated, a weekly food subscription box for $72. This week we were most excited about the pasta dish because they sent Sfoglini Pasta which is in my opinion the best pasta you can find outside of Italy! As always it was an incredibly delicious dish! It was heavenly! The second dish we were most excited about was the Greek Beeftekia, sadly that one was disappointing. Lastly, the Roasted Chicken & Tomatillo Rice Bowl looked interesting, but we were sure about it. Thankfully, it was fabulous! On to my review of each recipe in this box:

Pasta with Tomato Confit, Green Olives & Zucchini

Oh me oh my, this dish was five out of five stars for sure, it was delightful. The Sfoglini Pasta has the absolute perfect texture and such a wonderful taste. It never disappoints! I highly recommend you grab any Plated dish that includes their pasta, you will not regret it and you'll come back and thank me! When Hubby is on vacation, we will be going to Charlotte to pick up some Sfoglini Pasta at one of the three stores that sells it there. If you have ever had pasta in Italy like I have, you know that a high quality pasta is worth every penny when you are looking for that perfect texture and taste. In this recipe we used their Malloreddus pasta which has saffron in it, oh such a delightful flavor! Looking at this recipe's ingredients I was a bit nervous about it not having a tomato or cheese sauce, but after one bite I was convinced it didn't need either. This dish had an olive sauce which was really delicious, though I don't think cheap pasta would be ok with it. Also, I've really grown to liking percorino cheese instead of parmesan on top of my pasta. You should give it a try, if you haven't already, it's available at Whole Foods. This was a vegetarian dish and yet meat lover Hubby didn't mind at all, he loved it too. Wow, just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Oh how I want to eat this again very, very soon! This recipe took about thirty-five minutes to cook and had 700 calories. Though that seems like more calories than I would have guessed, it was worth it due to the intensively wonderful flavor. It was a very generous portion.

Roasted Chicken & Tomatillo Rice Bowl with Crispy Tortillas

This dish was scrumptious and we both gave it four out of five stars. We have learned through these food subscriptions that we really enjoy cooking with tomatillos and they have such a wonderful flavor. I highly recommend you try cooking with them yourself, if you haven't before, especially if you like Mexican green sauce. We would have liked more chili powder & tortillas for on top. The crema made out of greek yogurt and lime juice was surprisingly delicious. So simple, yet so yummy. We didn't shred the chicken, since we don't like our chicken that way. This recipe was impressive and it is definitely worth repeating soon. This was a time consuming recipe coming in at over forty-five minutes, but Chef Hubby didn't mind after tasting it. Calories for this one were 670 and it was a generous portion.

Greek Beeftekia with Feta & Kalamata Olives

We thought for sure that we would love this recipe since we love Greek food, but sadly we did not. I learned that I do not like feta cheese on my burger. I love it on a Greek Salad, so that was surprising. We didn't care for the dressing on the vegetables, it was very sour. We thought it would have been much better with lamb instead of ground beef and a mint sauce would have been a lovely addition. This was a miss for us and came in at only two stars. Hubby ate all of his, but I fed a lot of it to our four dogs since I just couldn't finish it. They really enjoyed it. The flavor just wasn't my cup of tea. It was very time consuming at over forty minutes and it had 760 calories.
