Yogurt Cup
This is a review for a new location of the franchise called Menchie's Frozen Yogurt. We visited for the first time around 3 pm yesterday, Memorial Day. Sadly, the Waverly Place location in Cary has closed. We frequented that location and preferred the atmosphere there. There were a few customers at the new location, but it certainly wasn't busy. They are open seven days a week from 11:30 am and close at 10 pm except for Friday and Saturday nights when they stay open one hour later. You can check out what flavors they have currently on their website. I recommend doing so because there may not be a flavor you are crazy about. Sometimes they have lots of flavors I fancy and other times there aren't any that I'm excited about.
You may sample the flavors prior to purchasing. There should be a bunch of tiny white sample cups near the yogurt machines. If not, ask the staff for some. I find some of the flavors have an artificial taste, so I like to sample any I suspect will taste like that. The sorbets are the lowest in calories and are made with real fruit, so those taste best. This time they had two wierd flavors, Kit Kat and Butterfinger. I prefer to eat the candy bar, the idea of it in liquid form is unappetizing to me. They are also better as crunchy toppings! I sampled the Red Velvet and I found it to be a bit artificial. Hubby loved the banana, chocolate and Dulce de Leche. I tend to stick to yogurt only for a lower calorie count while Hubby loves to add toppings. They have a lot of toppings to chose from. Remember that the cups are very large, so you'll want to fill it about half full for a healthy portion. You can add a bit more for sorbets. It's self serve, so walk to the right, grab a cup and decide on which flavors you want. Fill your cup, walk left to the toppings bar and decide if you would like some toppings. Then walk to the cash register and the staff will weigh your yogurt and ring your order up. Our two cups rang up at 11.3 oz and it costs .55 an oz. So our total was $6.73 after tax. Then, pick a green or pink spoon, grab some napkins and find a table to enjoy your dessert. On your way out the staff is suppose to say "have a smiley day!". Be sure to sign up for their rewards card, if you plan on being a return customer. The rewards program is called Smileage. This location isn't convenient for us. Hopefully they will open another location closer to home. I find it strange that the Waverly Place location closed because they always had plenty of customers and it was a peaceful location. So disappointed! What's your favorite yogurt store?
