This is a review of a weekly smoothie subscription box called Green Blender. For my 14th shipment I gave two recipes three out of five stars and three recipes two out of five stars. This week's recipes were "to get you glowing" in other words skin beautifying. It was one of my least favorite weeks of recipes. Calories ranged from 107 to 275 and preparation time ranged from five minutes to fifteen.
Sweet Potato Renew ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I gave this recipe three out of five stars. The ingredients in this smoothie are 1 sweet potato, 1 banana, 2 dates, 1 tsp cinnamon, 3 tbsp pecans, 1 cup water and 1 cup ice. The first flavor I tasted was the banana followed by the cinnamon. It was tasty. It has 275 calories, 10 g fat, 48 g carbs, 16 g fiber, 24 g sugar and 4 grams protein. This one gives energy, immune boosting, is high in fiber and good for the skin.
Green Grape Hydrate ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I gave this recipe three of out five stars. Included in this recipe were the following: 1 1/2 oz Swiss chard, 1 pear, 5 oz grapes, 1 tbsp pea protein, 1/2 tsp spirulina, 1 cup water and 1 cup ice. Part of the pear was bad and it was bruised so I had to cut out the bad part. The first flavor I tasted was the spirulina, second the pear and third the grapes. It was tasty. It has 107 calories, 1 g fat, 20 g carbs, 3 g fiber, 14 g sugar and 7 g protein. This one is high in protein, immune boosting, low in calories and good for the skin.
Aloe Gloe Mango ⭐️ ⭐️
I gave this recipe two out of five stars since it made me nauseous. It tasted weird to me. I gave the rest to Hubby who enjoyed it. The first flavor I tasted was the Aloe Gloe, second was the applesauce, third was the squash and forth was the mango. Included in this one were 1 1/2 oz baby spinach, 4 oz mango, 1/2 cup applesauce, 1 yellow squash, 1/2 inch ginger, 1 tbsp hemp seeds, 1 cup Aloe Gleo and 1 cup ice. It has 127 calories, 3 g fat, 24 g carbs, 3 g fiber, 18 g sugar and 3 g protein. This one provides immune boosting, is low in calories and is good for the skin.
Cara Cara Cashew ⭐️ ⭐️
I gave this recipe only two out of five stars. It was too thick and it wasn't sweet. Included in it were the following: 4 oz carrots, 1 Cara Cara orange, 2 tomatillos, 3 tbsp cashews, 1 cup water and 1 cup ice. The first flavor I tasted was the orange, followed by the carrots and then the tomatillos. This one has 124 calories, 4 g fat, 19 g carbs, 11 g sugar and 3 g protein. It's immune boosting, low in calories and good for the skin.
Apple Butter ⭐️ ⭐️
I expected to like this one, but I landed up not liking it much and gave it only two stars. It tasted like cold unsweetened apple pie. Hubby really like it. Included in this one were: 1 1/2 oz mesclun, 2 apples, 1 tsp apple pie spice, 1 tbsp flaxseed, 2 tbsp almond butter, 1 cup water and 1 cup ice. It has 213 calories, 11 g fat, 28 g carbs, 9 g fiber, 17 g sugar and 5 g protein. It's high in fiber and good for your skin.
Next week's recipes look like they are tastier. I'll be reviewing them next week. This is a good subscription box for those that want healthy smoothies not filled with sugar. One could add some stevia or honey to sweeten if needed. Don't be afraid of green smoothies, you usually don't even taste the greens! I added some protein powder since my doctor said I'm not eating enough foods with protein and these smoothies aren't high enough in protein. I gave up being a vegetarian due to IBS many years ago, but I still eat some vegetarian meals which tend to be low in protein.
