Black Friday 2014 Mugs - Saturday, Sunday & Friday
Rear of 2015 Mugs & Black Friday 2013 Mug
The store called Cost Plus World Market offered free Downton Abbey mugs for the first one hundred customers on Black Friday and the next two days in 2013, 2014 and 2015. They also offered free Downton Abbey totes with a $20 purchase. Since I'm not a fan of crowds and the craziness of Black Friday shopping, I stayed home and purchased all of these on eBay instead. The idea of getting up really early, driving to the store and hoping I was one of the first one hundred customers was a nightmare. Though, I did go on the third day the first year to get a couple of free totes. It wasn't as busy that day. I love these mugs since they are so classy and hold the perfect amount of tea. They are dish washer safe and as you can see by the photo of my 2013 mug, the print stays in good shape even after years of washing it in my dish washer. They do get a bit stained and need some hand washing occasionally, but most mugs have that issue. Hopefully they will have another set of mugs in 2016, but since they are airing the last season starting next month, they may not. If you would like to purchase some of these mugs at a good price, you'll need to do an extensive search. Prices vary a lot so you'll need to spend some time searching for several days to get a good price. I purchased this year's set on the third day and I was able to get four mugs and three tote bags for $30. I was stalking eBay and managed to snag this deal within in minutes of it being posted. On average these mugs go for about $20 a piece. Last year I forgot about these until late January and I was still able to purchase three. What do you think of these mugs and were you able to get one for free or chose to purchase some on eBay? My favorite is the one with a quote from Violet, "What is a weekend?". They also come in their own individual boxes which are made of hard cardboard. They are so pretty and they are definately worth keeping.
US residents, don't forget to tune in on Sunday, January 3rd at 9 pm ET for the first episode of the last season of Downton Abbey on PBS. I'm so excited and I can't wait! Brits, please don't post any spoilers. I'm so sad this is the last season, but it has been a such a wonderful show and I'm grateful for every episode. They are airing last year's episodes (Season 5) on prior to January 3rd so be sure to search for it and record it or watch online. Who's your favorite character? Mine is Violet since I love Maggie Smith, her acting is superb and her lines are hilarious as shown in this video:
