If you have been wanting to feed your dog a healthier diet made of human-grade ingredients Ollie is for you! I have been home cooking for our dogs for years and lately, I've been wanting a break so I tried Ollie and two other companies. Home cooking for your dogs is a lot of work. It involves a lot of research, vet consultation, and cooking time. If you have the time I highly recommend it. If you don't I recommend you give Ollie a try. They have four dishes to choose from. I bought Chicken, Beef, and Lamb.
We tried two other companies, Nom Nom & Farmer's Dog, and Ollie came out the winner. Nom Nom was too chunky and we felt like some of the vegetables weren't cooked long enough so they were tough. Sophia didn't like the chunks of vegetables. Also, the chicken dish stained Bentley's long beard. Farmer's Dog was too mushy and wet. Bentley really disliked the texture. It's too much like baby food. I really disliked the food's packaging and one came damaged. Ollie has the perfect consistency that our two Maltese dogs prefer. A little bit about our taste testers: our puppy, Sophia will eat just about anything while our four-year-old Maltese, Bentley has a picky appetite. His appetite has been made even worse lately by having some of his teeth removed and mourning the death of our 13-year-old Maltese, Leo. I also prefer Ollie because of their packaging. The easy-to-open pouches contain enough for two days. They sent us a free refrigerator storage box and scoop which are excellent. We change the flavor daily rotating between the three. In the morning we serve them the flavor they had the day prior and in the evening we serve them a new flavor. I find dogs get bored with one flavor, so it's nice to be able to change it frequently. Also, that way we are offering them different ingredients and nutrition. The pouches are great for traveling or for your dog sitter. The food is shipped frozen and all you do is take out one pouch of food from the freezer the night before and defrost it in the refrigerator. It is also the least messy food for dogs with long hair.
The ingredients for the chicken dish are chicken, carrots, peas, rice, chicken liver, potatoes, spinach, dicalcium phosphate, whole dried eggs, fish oil, blueberries, chia seeds, calcium carbonate, salt, cod liver oil, zinc gluconate, rosemary, copper gluconate, choline bitartrate, vitamin E supplement, manganese gluconate, potassium iodide, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), riboflavin (vitamin B2).
