Chopsticks Japanese Restaurant

This is a review of a new restaurant located in Lillington, North Carolina called Chopsticks Japanese Restaurant. Their health score is currently 97.5 which is very good. They offer booth seating and tables and chairs inside and carry-out. They are open from 11 am to 9 pm daily. Here's a view of the interior:

They have weekday lunch specials from 11 am to 3 pm for only $7.48. Check out the menu, click on the photos to enlarge:

Our first visit was on a Saturday at around 2:30 pm. They had a couple of customers dining inside and several carry-out orders.  We ordered Bang Bang Shrimp and Shrimp Tempura Appetizers, Miso Soup, Chicken Hibachi, and Steak Hibachi. We didn't know the meals come with Japanese Clear Soup or Salad.

Bang Bang Shrimp - $6.95

We both enjoyed the Bang Bang Shrimp. It has a tasty crisp batter, medium-sized plump shrimp, a yummy sweet sauce and it's topped with green onions. The batter will be crisper if you purchase for dining in. The styrofoam boxes tend to keep in steam and the batter loses some of its crispness. The same goes for the Shrimp Tempura, the panko batter lost even more crispness in the box. I recommend ordering the Shrimp Tempura for dining in only. They don't reheat well, so I don't recommend reheating them at home.

Shrimp Tempura - $5.95

Their Chicken Hibachi is very tasty. The chicken is moist and not overcooked and the rice is pretty good. It comes with mushrooms, sliced zucchini, sweet carrots, white sauce, and Japanese fried rice. I always ask for steamed rice instead of fried. It also comes with Japanese Clear Soup or House Salad. We don't care for the sugared carrots. It's a filling portion. Hubby wasn't crazy about the steak, it is of low quality, so we recommend the chicken instead. The Hibachi can be reheated. We ordered too much food so I kept my Chicken Hibachi for the next day, the chicken was still tender and moist and it was very tasty. I plan to try the Shrimp Hibachi soon.

Chicken Hibachi - $7.95

Steak Hibachi - $8.95

On our second visit, it was around 2:00 pm on a Friday and it was very busy. It was quite a long wait for carry-out. Be sure to order ahead, phone number above. Hubby ordered the Thai Chili Chicken Wings and they were scrumptious. I had a taste and I must say they are crave-worthy for sure. The batter was crisp, the chicken moist and the sauce yummy. I ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp and Hibachi Chicken and they were both as tasty as they were the first time.

Thai Chili Chicken Wings - $5.95

I recommend you give this restaurant a try soon. We are in desperate need of some more restaurants in Lillington so let us give this one support. Their prices are good and I'm sure you'll find something on the menu you'll find appetizing. I think I'll order the Thai Chilli Chicken Wings and some Gyoza Dumplings next time. If you've been what did you order and what was your favorite?

Update - we have tried more items off the menu. We recommend the Gyoza Dumplings, they are cooked perfectly and the filling is delicious. Hubby thought the Crab Wontons were too sweet, but I disagree and love them. The Vegetable Spring Rolls were cooked perfectly, not too greasy, but I wasn't crazy about them. I prefer Shrimp Spring Rolls. Hubby tried the General Tso's Chicken and asked for light sauce, he said it's the best he's had. If you don't like too much sauce, be sure to ask for light sauce. The fried topping wasn't too thick, it had big pieces of chicken and it was very tasty. He will order it again since General Tso's is one of his favorites. I tried the Thai Coconut Chicken Curry and it had too much sauce. It looked more like soup than a curry dish. It was tasty, but I had to scoop out the chicken, onion and red pepper pieces. I didn't want that much sauce. For take-out orders they often forget the free soup for Hibachi orders, so check your bag before you leave.

Have a PEACEful Day!
