Hot Green Tea - $1.95
This is a review of a new restaurant located in Cary, North Carolina called Sushi at the Park. They are located near the Hobby Lobby at the Parkside Town Commons Shopping Center. Take exit 66B off NC-540. They are open from 11 am until 10 pm except on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night when they stay open an hour longer. We arrived around 1 pm on a Monday and we were immediately greeted by a friendly host and seated at a comfortable booth. They have some booths, lots of tables and two bars that you can sit at. They have lots of natural light which is lovely. Their health grade is 95 which is very good.
Shortly after we were seated we were greeted by a friendly waitress and she took our drink orders. They have a large menu with lots of choices. You may want to make your selection at home before you arrive. You can choose from appetizers, soups & salads, entrees with noodles, many Asian entrees, sashimi, sushi rolls, sushi burritos, poke bowls, vegetarian rolls, nigiri rolls, kids' meals, and desserts. They have a lot of sushi rolls to chose from so it took me a while to determine which two to pick. All of their rolls are buy one get one which is wonderful. I chose the Fire Ball Roll and the Pika Pika roll. The Fire Ball Roll is described as "shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and avocado topped with seared tuna, spicy mayo, jalapeños, and hot sauce". Here's a close up of the scrumptious Fire Ball Roll:
My only complaint is that they removed the spicy seeds from the jalapeno slices. The Pika Pika Roll is described as "tuna, salmon, hamachi, scallions, asparagus, and tempura flakes with eel sauce". I tend to not order any rolls with tempura flakes, but these were used sparingly and they were tasty since they were not greasy at all. Both of these rolls were delicious, I leaned a bit towards the Pika Pika Roll as my favorite. They tasted best without the addition of soy sauce or wasabi. I love how they didn't use too much rice and they used lots of sauce. Hubby really enjoyed his Poke Bowl, but he would recommend ordering an appetizer or soup prior so that it's more filling. The green tea wasn't good, I don't recommend it. Perhaps ask for some hot water and bring your own tea bag or order some other drink on the menu, they have a full bar. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. She was happy to answer our questions about the menu and our food arrived at the table in only twelve minutes. Hubby says the bathrooms are very clean. I think we found a new favorite restaurant. I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try in the near future, your taste buds will thank you. We give this restaurant four out of five stars, it would hit five stars if soup or salad were complimentary with the purchase of an entree or the prices were a tad lower. If you are looking for a light dessert, I recommend Menchies, just across from this restaurant on the right side of Harris Teeter. Another restaurant I have reviewed in that shopping center is Chuy's.
Update June 2019 - Sadly, the quality has gone down and they are skimping now. The Sushi Burrito is the width of an egg roll, not the size of a burrito and it had only a few tiny cubes of poke in it. It was mostly rice and unappetizing. The sushi and sashimi weren't cold enough. They even skipped the fish eggs on the sushi roll. The Margarita had very little alcohol in it. The waitress went missing so we had to go looking for her to get the bill. She was really slow to process our payment and yet there were very few customers. Management didn't show up when we complained about the size of the overpriced so-called Sushi Burrito. I can't recommend this restaurant anymore.
