My Bath & Body Works Candle Day Haul & Spring 2019 Preview

Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candle Haul

Every year Bath & Body Works has a 3-Wick Candle Day Sale which is on the first Saturday in December. This year the candles were on sale for only $8.95 which required the use of a coupon code (CANDLEWIN) for the online sale so you couldn't use a second coupon unless you went to their stores. They had a limit of 15 candles. The sale starts online the night prior usually between 6 pm and midnight ET. This year they gave Reward Members access early at 10 pm though I noticed it was available a bit before that. Popular scents were selling out within a couple of hours and a few hours later they were sold out completely. One of the reasons they sold out so quickly this year was because they were offering Petal Tea Cake only online and it's a much sought after candle. Many customers that normally don't order online were this year so they could purchase that candle. Plus those candles sell for a fortune on the secondary market, so some people were just ordering to resell them. You can read more about the Candle Day Sale in my previous blog post. My order arrived eight days later and 9 of the 15 candles that I ordered were broken, take a look:

Eeek! Imagine my shock and disappointment! I had to use tongs to find the unbroken ones. It appeared that the box had broken open during shipping and they retaped it. They recently changed their packaging for the candles which aren't holding the candles as securely so more candles are breaking during shipping. Occasionally, my candles are broken in shipping, but it's never been this bad. Customer service was able to replace most of the candles except Spiced Gingerbread. They had kept some extra stock for replacements, but they had already run out of that scent. She was only able to replace scents with the scents I had ordered, so she wasn't able to send a similar gingerbread scent as a replacement which was disappointing. Thankfully, all of my replacement candles arrived unbroken. They put bubble wrap in between each candle which helped. During the sale, they brought back some old favorite scents they had not sold for years. The ones I ordered were Spice, Mint Chocolate and French Baguette. They also offered some new scents and the one I picked up was Banana Split Milkshake. After the replacement shipment arrived, I landed up with the following candles:

  • Fresh Balsam - made with pine, cedarwood & eucalyptus essential oils
  • Holiday - nutmeg, clove, cinnamon with essential oils
  • Spice - red cinnamon sticks, Christmas clove buds, and applewood bark
  • Mint Chocolate - sweet peppermint, creamy vanilla bean, decadent chocolate, and handmade marshmallow
  • French Baguette2012 creation, slow rising dough, crispy crust and fresh out of the oven aroma
  • Banana Split Milkshake - 2018 creation, the scent of sweet banana, chocolate sauce and a cherry on top
  • Crushed Candy Cane - crunchy peppermint, white sugar crystals
  • Merry Cookie - fresh baked cookies, sparkling sugar crystals, and rich vanilla
  • Yuletide - made with rosemary & pine essential oils with notes of eucalyptus, and cedar
  • Winter - made with fir needle & orange essential oils with notes of clove & citrus

The only scent I had not tried yet was Banana Split Milkshake. It smells like Banana Taffy to me, I really like it. I don't smell any cherry nor chocolate. It has a throw of about a 7 out of 10. Oh, I forgot I hadn't tried Crushed Candy Cane either. It's similar to Twisted Peppermint, but nowhere near as strong. I prefer Twisted Peppermint since I can depend on it to clear the room of any nasty scents quickly. It's such a fresh, clean scent.

Spring comes early at Bath & Body Works, check out what they are offering so far:

Which ones are you tempted to purchase? I'm tempted by them all! If you have seen them in stores I'd love to hear your review, please comment below. If you want any of these I highly recommend if you see them in stores to purchase them that day because stores don't usually get large quantities of these. They are usually offered online a bit longer than stores, but I wouldn't wait too long to order online if any of them are on you must have list. Don't forget to use a coupon! You can find coupons at retailmenot.com, in the mail, via email or on their app. Some stores aren't taking retailmenot.com coupons anymore and they won't take coupons from the app if your area isn't participating in the Rewards Program yet. The Rewards Program is being tested in select cities, but you can use it online if you enter one of the participating cities zip codes. I'm lucky that they chose the Raleigh area as one of the test markets recently.

The SAS (semi-annual sale) is still going on in stores and online so be sure to check out the savings which are up to 75% off. The selection and prices in stores vary a lot so if you have more than one store in your area visit them all. You may want to visit more than once since they put out new inventory several times a week. There are still some fall and winter candles on sale online. The only one I don't recommend is Sparkling Woods, it's awful. It smells like cheap cologne. It's available online only.

Bargain Alert:

$10 off $40 - online code "TNFTYJS", available on the app and via email for store purchases
Mr. Rebates - 1% back

I got the French Baguette...absolute waste of money. It had zero scent. Like an unscented candle scent. I threw it away after burning it once. So disappointing. Did your have scent?

Yes, mine has a throw of about a 7 out of 10, best in a medium sized room. I use it in our master bedroom. It takes a bit of time to throw. Never throw a candle out, you can exchange without a receipt or return with a receipt at any store, 100% guarantee! You can also sell it!

I must have gotten a dud, there was zero scent in the candle, I burned it for over an hour thinking it would start to throw scent. I didn't realize the return policy was like this or I would have taken it back. Live and learn!

I have had several scents i couldnt smell. I took them back reice and had no problem getting new ones. I have a question. Do they ever have the candle holders on sale. Our store has some cute ones and i would like to buy a couple.ive never seen them on sale. Thanks

They go on sale if they don't sell out. The ceramic ones have limited quantities, so I recommend using a coupon and not waiting for a sale since they sell out before it's time for a sale. I find it easier to buy them online. Only the really large expensive houses sometimes still have quantity online and go on sale, unlikely to find them in stores. If not an online shopper, I recommend calling your local store and having it put on hold. Too often I've visited a store and been told they only received 1-3 and they are sold out.

Late here but I had same issue where more than half the candles I ordered were broken.
