Hot Pot - Yuan Yang Base Soup

This is a review for a new Asian Hot Pot restaurant located in Cary, North Carolina called Good Harvest. They have over fifty locations throughout China and three locations in the United States, two of which are in New York and one in North Carolina. Hubby had a rare weekday off, so we decided this was the perfect time to try out this new restaurant. They are open from 11 am to 10 pm except on Friday and Saturday when they are open one hour later. We arrived around 2 pm on a Wednesday and there were no other customers. This is the perfect time to visit, if you don't like crowds. If you plan to visit during the lunch and dinner rush, you may want to make a reservation especially if you don't like waiting or it's a special occasion. They have two VIP rooms you might want to inquire about, if you are having a very large party. They are located very close to the US-1 entrance and parking is in the rear of the building. Upon our arrival, we were immediately greeted by a friendly Asian man and seated at a booth.

We were given a regular menu and the All You Can Eat Lunch Menu as shown below:

Click on the photo to enlarge it. The young, friendly Asian waiter arrived and took our drink order and we tried to decide what to order. We didn't even bother to look at the regular menu since this menu was calling our name. It's $14.95 for vegetarians and $19.95 for meat and seafood. It's available everyday from 11 am to 4 pm except on holidays. We weren't sure what to order and how much we were allowed to order. The waiter and an older gentleman helped us out and made many suggestions, they were very helpful. Simply make a check mark next to the items you would like to order. First, we chose the Yuan Yang Base Soup which has two sides, one which is spicy. Since Hubby didn't want any noodles, we found having two sides was helpful for keeping the noodles contained. We also chose the following:

Vegetables, Seafood & Rinse Dishes - Enoki Mushrooms, Fish Filet, Shrimp, Fish Balls, Tempura, Lotus Root, Cauliflower, Tong Ho, Cabbage, Tofu, Seaweed Knots

Meats - Ribeye, Lamb & Haoyue Beef

Noodles - Udon & Hand-pulled Noodles

The uncooked food arrived at our table in about seven minutes. We then went over to the condiments bar (shown below) and chose from the wonderful selection. The bar is twice as wide, this photo is showing half, but they have the same selections on both sides.

I chose sesame oil & sauce, peanut sauce, garlic, crushed peanuts and green onions. Hubby chose all the spicy sauces and toppings. They have little bowls underneath for each of your selections and large bowls for your entree. Shortly after the soup arrived at the table it started boiling, the spicy side started first as shown in the video below:

We added the ingredients we wanted to try first to the bowl and waited for it to cook. The meats take the least time to cook and are scrumptious. They shrink quite a bit, so while it may look like a ton of food on the plate, it does land up being quite less. I recommend adding your ingredients in stages, so you have time to eat it and so they don't overcook. My favorites are the meats, spicy soup, noodles, sauces and the toppings. All of the ingredients were fresh and yummy. You have one hour and forty-five minutes to dine. It took us about one hour and fifteen minutes. We asked for a refill of our meats, but that was it since it was already a incredibly generous amount of food for two people! We didn't even bother eating dinner later, we were still full. It's a Thanksgiving quantity of food, so arrive with an empty belly! It was an incredible experience that was so much fun. I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try very soon. What's your favorite Asian restaurant in the Triangle?
