Ipsy Subscription Box Review - January 2018

Ipsy - January 2018

This is a review of a monthly cosmetic subscription box called Ipsy. It only costs $10 a month including shipping and they send out five deluxe samples per month based on your beauty profile. The retail value of this month's bag is $37.06. Included in my January bag were the following products:
  1. Dermelect - Microfacial Exfoliating Masque, made in the USA, .5 fl. oz., $7.03 retail value
  2. The Balm - Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter, made in the USA, .04 oz., $3.20 retail value
  3. Kokie Cosmetics - Kissable Liquid Lipstick in Mad About Mauve, made in P.R. China, .24 fl. oz., $6.00
  4. SLMissGlam - Mermaid Glam Tapered Highlight Brush L36, $13.33 retail value
  5. Lué by Jean Seo - Balance Hydrating & Calming Serum, made in the USA, .5 fl. oz., $7.50 retail value
I'm most excited about the Highlight Brush which I've seen others receive in previous boxes. I love the pink glitter handle with the two pink stones and the pretty pink bristles. I've never heard of this brand before, but the bristles are soft, so I'll enjoy using it. I'm always happy to receive something from the brand The Balm. This one is a highlighter which can be used with the brush they sent. I've never heard of Kokie Cosmetics either and I'm not crazy about their liquid lipstick. It's a very dark reddish brown which isn't flattering on my fair skin. The consistency is ok, but it's not a brand I would purchase especially since it's made in China and they have very low standards for cosmetics. Yet another brand that I haven't heard of before is Lué. The ingredients are questionable, I'm pretty sure they aren't healthy ingredients. Another brand I haven't heard of before is Dermelect. It's really quite expensive, has anyone heard of this brand before or seen it in stores? This masque is suppose to remove oils and I have dry skin, so I'm not happy they sent it to me. If it wasn't for the pretty brush and the highlighter they sent, I would be very unhappy about this bag. The reason I unsubscribed four years ago was because they kept sending low quality brands I'm not familiar with. When I saw that recently they were sending higher quality brands I decided to subscribe again. So imagine my disappointment when this bag has three out of five brands I haven't heard of before. My last bag had only one brand I had not heard of. I'm going to have to start up my blog sale again, if I'm going to continuing subscribing to Ipsy. There are too many items I wont be using and I don't want them to go to waste.
