The long awaited West Cary Whole Foods had their Grand Opening today, November 7th, 2017. It's located in the Alston Town Center. To get there from the south (Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay Varina), take NC-540 and use exit 66a, then turn right. Drive on NC-55 for half a mile and it will be on your right. There is parking lot in the front of the building and on the right side. The entrance to the market is on the far left. The popular La Farm Bakery has opened a second restaurant in this Whole Foods store. If you are going to La Farm, it's entrance is on the far right on the side the building.
The photos below take you around the store from the front entrance:
Once inside, on the left you will find the Juice Bar and on the right the Floral Department and then the Produce Department:

Notice all the fresh produce that's fully stocked. Then walking to the rear of the store you'll find the Seafood Department. It smelled delicious, I'm guessing they just cooked some shrimp with some Chesapeake Bay Seasoning for a customer. The seafood looked fresh and yummy:

Then walking to the right of the store you will arrive at the Meat Department. It looked appetizing and there were many choices:

Walking further to the right along the backside of the store, you'll come to Growler Station. This is where you can step up to the bar and have a craft beer. Then either step up to the table to take a beer break or go along your way and continue shopping.

Walk a little further and you'll land up in the Cheese & Wine Department. Then turn right and walk towards the front of the store to find the Hot Bar, Salad Bar, Prepared Foods, Deli and freshly cooked pizza:

Walking further towards the front of the store you'll find the Whole Foods Bakery and gelato. On the right side of the Whole Foods Bakery you'll find the La Farm Bakery and their offerings:

At the front of the store, look back and you'll see this view of the La Farm Bakery where they bake their breads daily:

Turn facing the front of the store again and on your right you'll find the cash registers which includes four convenient express checkouts. Turn left and you'll find the La Farm Bakery Cafe:
There are quite a few tables which include thirty seats, so you have the option to eat your La Farm food there. There are also thirty outdoor seats to choose from or you can get it to go. They offer baked goods, coffee, sandwiches, salads, soup and more. Check out their other location's menu. The regular Whole Foods dining area is in front of the cash registers at the front of the building. If you want to eat outside, walk through the exterior doors in the cafe, turn right and then right again and you'll find the covered outdoor seating area:

The Cosmetic Department is located in the front center of the market. There are frozen food cases on the rear wall and some next to the Wine Department. It looked like they had all hands on deck today, there was no shortage of employees ready to assist customers. I was asked several times if I needed assistance and I was greeted by each department that I visited. All the employees seemed to be happy and they were very friendly. It was an enjoyable visit. I'm so happy to finally have another Whole Foods Market in the area. I'm not a big fan of the other Cary location. Even though they did a bit of remodeling, I don't think they did enough. They really need a full remodel. I also find that they don't carry some items that other locations have and often things are out of stock. Sometimes I take the long drive to the Raleigh location just to get those items. I'm happy to report that this new location in West Cary has those items. The shelves are fully stocked and ready for you. So what are you waiting for? Ready, set, go!
Are you going to make this your go to location or will you continue to shop at another location? This will be the location we visit the most. In the Alston Town Center there is a pet shop I recommend, Pet People. They have the highest quality brands of dog food and treats. I already dined at one of the restaurants there, so check out my review of No 1 Pho before you go. There is also a Moe's Southwest Grill, Built Custom Burgers and a Penn Station East Coast Subs to chose from. If you head to the other side of NC-540, you'll find another shopping center, Parkside Town Commons, with more restaurants. I've reviewed Chuy's Tex Mex Restaurant and Menchies Frozen Yogurt so far. What's your favorite restaurant in that area?
