This is a review of a weekly food subscription service called Sun Basket. This week we gave two recipes five out of five stars and one recipe four out of five stars. Preparation time listed on the recipe cards ranged from thirty to fifty minutes and calories ranged from 550 to 620.  All of the ingredients arrived in great shape except for the basil which we were credited for by simply letting them know via email. The photo above shows the basil that we purchased in a local grocery store. If you are here only for the giveaway, scroll down.

Sausage, Kale & Butternut Squash Soup with Black Garlic

Hubby & I both gave this recipe five out five stars, it was scrumptious and the perfect comfort food for a cold fall day. Wow, black garlic is incredibly delicious! It was our first time trying it and while it was a bit squishy in comparison to normal garlic, it was so tasty. I wish we could find some locally because I would use it regularly for sure. If know where to purchase some, please comment below! The Italian sausage was outstanding! The fresh thyme was absorbed by the celery and it was so tasty. Kale is always a wonderful addition to soup. If you don't like it uncooked I dare you to try it cooked in soup, it's so tasty yet so good for you. For the photo above. I drained a bit of the broth out of my bowl so that you could see the ingredients better. This is a gluten free and paleo recipe with only 550 calories yet it's filling and a generous portion. The recipe indicated thirty-five to forty-five minutes for preparation. It took Hubby over an hour to make, but one should take their time with soup so that the flavors simmer together for a tastier soup. One could let it simmer even longer if you have the time say on the weekend, but we were amazed how much flavor this one had without doing that.

Williams-Sonoma Spicy Thai Style Beef with Broccoli

Hubby gave this recipe four out of five stars and I gave it three, he's more a fan of broccoli than I am. I find that the basmati rice isn't as tasty as jasmine rice. There were some tough pieces of the sirloin steak. The Thai red curry paste was very spicy which was just a bit too spicy for me yet it was tasty. This is a gluten free recipe with only 630 calories yet filling and it was a generous portion. The recipe indicated thirty to forty minutes of preparation time and it took Hubby forty minutes to prepare.

Braised Chicken Arrabbiata with Creamy Celery Root Mash

We gave this recipe five out of five stars, wow it was so awesome! We had never had celery root before and if you can get your hands on some, buy it! It's so scrumptiously delicious! Though it made this person with IBS very gassy for hours. The mashed celery root with onion and garlic was a perfect combination. The chicken thighs were very tender and moist. The fresh oregano and the bay leaf gave the chicken a wonderful flavor. It had just the right amount of spice. This incredible gluten free and paleo dish had only 620 calories yet it was very filling and it was a very generous portion. Indicated preparation time is forty to fifty minutes and actual preparation time was over an hour. It was worth the extra time since it was so tasty.

Wow, what an incredible week of recipes it was! Sun Basket is amazing us week after week, so they are our current favorite meal kit subscription. 4. The Williams-Sonoma Spicy Thai Style Beef with Broccoli sounds great. My husband and I love broccoli. I'd like to try the Braised Chicken Arrabbiata with Creamy Celery Root Mash but I don't think my husband would. He hates anything with the word "celery" in it.
