This is a review for a Japanese restaurant called Little Tokyo located in High Point, North Carolina. We've been on the hunt for a great Japanese restaurant since we moved to the Piedmont a little over a year ago and we have finally found it. What an awesome dining experience we had a Little Tokyo last Saturday. We arrived around 4:15 pm and we were promptly seated at a table near the windows by a friendly waitress. Their sanitation score is 94%.

We ordered quite quickly since we already knew we were going to order Bento Boxes since they are so hard to find in this area.  I ordered Bento Box C which is described as "sashimi (tuna and salmon), Tokyo Spicy Tuna Roll, tempura (shrimp & vegetables), seaweed salad, salad with ginger dressing and miso soup". Hubby ordered the Steak & Shrimp Special Bento Box which is described as "hibachi steak & shrimp, fried rice, vegetables, shrimp & vegetable tempura, California roll, pork dumpling, miso soup and salad with ginger dressing". Hubby requested white rice rather than fried rice. Five minutes later the free appetizers and miso soup arrived. We were offered the option of chicken soup. The four appetizers were crispy noodles with sweet & sour sauce on top, fried chicken with a unknown sauce, edamame and corn crab salad. Hubby liked the corn crab salad and crispy noodles the most and I liked the fried chicken and crispy noodles the most. We both received our own little sample of the corn crab salad and we shared the rest of the samples. This is especially delightful since it's usually a long wait for the sushi to be made and this has always been our complaint at our old favorite restaurant, Sushi Thai, where we use to live. If you are really hungry when you arrive every minute waiting for the sushi to be made feels like forever, so this solves that problem! Ten minutes later our waitress brought out three sauces: white sauce, chili pepper sauce and ginger sauce. Four minutes later our entrees were brought to the table, which is a total of fourteen minutes after the appetizers were brought out. We absolutely loved our Bento Boxes! I'm picky about tempera and the two tempera shrimp and two vegetables were cooked perfectly. The tempera wasn't greasy and the sauce was of a good quality and flavor. The sashimi was scrumptious and I saved one piece of the salmon as my last bite, so I would say that's my favorite. Second favorite is the tempura. Hubby's steak and shrimp came in third which I sampled. The steak and shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The ginger dressing is of a high quality and equal to my favorite at our old favorite restaurant. The lettuce was very fresh and crisp. I wasn't a big fan of the Tokyo Spicy Tuna Roll since it had a hint of sweetness and I prefer spicy over sweet when it comes to sushi. It's described as "California roll topped with tuna, spicy sauce and crunch". The description doesn't mention any sweetness to it though. I didn't eat the seaweed salad because I don't care for it. We really enjoyed our meals and all that was left was some seaweed salad, edamame and rice.

We plan to return soon even though it's a bit longer of a drive than we care for and we prefer lunch on Saturdays. They don't open until 4 pm on Saturdays and they are closed on Sundays, so that's disappointing. They open at 11:30 am on weekdays, close between 2:30 and 4:30 pm and reopen at 4:30 pm. If you haven't tried this restaurant yet, I highly recommend you give it a try very soon! It's located near the Regal Cinemas Palladium. You may want to make a reservation if you aren't arriving close to opening time since the dining area is quite small.

I need restaurant suggestions since we have only lived in Triad about a year. So please comment below! I have several more restaurant reviews in the works, so be sure to stop by again soon.
