Beekman 1802 Goat Milk Shampoo Bar Review

Old-Fashioned Hand Cut Shampoo Bar
Goat Milk Hydrating Formula

Hubby requested this product after overhearing the Beekman Boys' pitch so I bought the Goat Milk Shampoo Bar Trio for $21.95 which works out to only $7.31 per bar. HSN is currently offering it at the same price with free shipping today during the Beekman Boys visit. They also sell it in singles for $12.00 each. Hubby chose the Honey & Orange Blossom scent which has notes of honey and mock orange blossoms with a hint of peonies. It's currently available in seven scents.

Each bar lasts a surprisingly long time. We have been sharing a bar in the shower for a month now and only about 1/3 of it is gone. We have both been using it almost daily. I didn't plan on using it like I said I bought it for Hubby. I didn't think it would work for my long hair and the concept of using bar soap on my hair seemed odd. I had to give it a try, so I did and now I'm hooked. I'm so impressed with it! I would have bet against liking it, so I'm shocked how much I like it. Just a couple of rubs of the shampoo bar on my head is all it takes and rinse time is short. It saves time which I really appreciate because the time involved with other brands of shampoo makes me want to cut my long hair. I simply rub the bar on my hair at the top quickly, put the bar down, then I stroke my hair from the top down to the ends to move the lathered product downwards. I apply it as soon as I get in the shower, leave it on during and rinse it off right before getting out of the shower. It reminds me of a clarifying shampoo without the harshness. It removes the greasiness and all the styling products' residue yet it leaves the hair smooth, soft, volumized and clean. I also find my hair looks lighter in color with more highlights. I have fine, straight long hair ending midway between my shoulders and elbow. The ends need conditioning about every 1-3 shampoos. I use a cleansing conditioner on it. Hubby's hair is short, thick and wavy and he loves the results of this shampoo bar. He also agrees it needs a bit of conditioning. I'm planning on buying Beekman's conditioner soon. I've also heard others say it works on their psoriasis which I have on my scalp. Initially, it irritated my psoriasis and then it made it better. It's not gone yet, but I have hope that it will. Stress, water quality, and allergies also affect it. I know that our local water supply is really irritating to my scalp even with a water filter. If you know of a really good shower water filter, comment below.

Oh, I almost forgot we also tried this shampoo bar on our two Maltese dogs with long white hair. You can see lots of photos of them on my Instagram page. An HSN caller said she used it on a rescue dog with skin issues so I had to try it on our dogs. Leo has skin issues that we have been battling for 5 years now. It worked really well on his hair, I have used it a few times. I use Royal Treatment Shampoo also available from HSN on his face since it's tear-free. We've been using that shampoo weekly ever since it was available on HSN. I looked it up, it has been 17 years now, so I obviously highly recommend it. Wow, how time flies. Bentley has a lot of hair, it's very thick and dense, so it requires a lot more time. After using the shampoo bar, I noticed a lot more volume, his hair looked even more fluffy. I thought it would be a pain to try the shampoo bar since they have so much long hair to work it through, but it was actually faster to lather up. Saving time is a big deal when you have dogs with long hair that has to be washed, blow-dried and combed through. I will be alternating between the shampoo bar and the Royal Treatment. Royal Treatment is made for dog's pH so it's safe to use weekly.
