Macy's Beauty Box Review - April 2019

The Editor's Box

This is a review of the Macy's Beauty Box for April. They sent another note reading "oops...we had to substitute one of the samples in your box. Sorry about that. (But don't worry, we're pretty sure you'll love what we sent instead!)". Actually, no I don't love the substitute I would prefer the Winky Lux  Disco Gloss since I've never tried that brand and I'd love to. The replacement is Spa Water from a brand I've never heard of before. The retail value of this month's box is an impressive $88.96 not including the coupon nor the cosmetic bag! Wow! So this is what they sent:
  1. Koh Ben Do Cleansing Spa Water, made in Japan, 1.35 fl. oz., $6.11 retail value
  2. RealHer Moisturizing Lipstick in the color Girlpower Mauve, designed & formulated in the USA filled in China, .12 oz. full size, $18.00 retail value
  3. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, made in England, .5 fl. oz., $37.64 retail value
  4. Perricone MD, Cold Plasma Plus Neck & Chest, made in the USA, .17 fl. oz., $15.13 retail value
  5. Grande Cosmetics Lash Boosting Mascara, made in Italy, .09 oz., $10.71 retail value
  6. Givenchy L'Interdit Eau de Parfum, made in France, .03 fl. oz., $1.37 retail value
  7. $5 coupon expires May 31st
  8. Cosmetic bag
I'll try out the Cleansing Spa Water soon, but I really prefer Julep's Hydrating Cleansing Oil.* I'm on my 3rd bottle of it, it's that good. It takes very little so the bottle lasts a long time. I'm just not a fan of the spa water makeup removers, they don't work well on my skin. I'm so glad they didn't send me a red lipstick! Girlpower Mauve is a nude pink that looks very natural on my cool toned fair skin. It feels moisturizing and it has a slight sheen to it but not glossy nor matte. I'm not happy that it is made in China. At $18 a lipstick, they can afford to make it in the US! I've tried Elemis before and I didn't really see any results which is surprising and disappointing since it's so expensive. It's a lightweight lotion that sinks into the skin slower than I would like and it leaves a bit of a tacky feeling. The Perricone MD leaves a bit of stickiness but it's very moisturizing. It's a greenish-yellow lotion that sinks in fairly quickly. I really don't have a current favorite neck cream, I use to like Bare Minerals but the last batch I bought wasn't as good so I stopped buying it. What neck cream do you recommend? I've tried Grande Cosmetics Mascara before and I wasn't impressed. The brush is very thick and dense and I find that Bare Minerals mascara fine-toothed brush is better suited for my eyelashes. The Givenchy Parfum smells pretty good, but we are at peak spring pollen levels right now and I can't smell very well due to allergies. It has top notes of orange blossom, middle notes of jasmine and tuberose and bottom notes of vetiver and patchouli. I enjoy those notes, so my nose is working some after all. It wouldn't be a scent I would spend $110 on though!

The retail value is really impressive this month and I really like it when they send a full sized product. So the lipstick more than pays for the bag this month since it's $18 and the bag costs $15 including shipping. I'm still unhappy about having to go pick up the items I purchase with the monthly coupons. I'm certainly not paying $10 to ship one item. Thankfully, they had the pickup location close to the door I entered through and the line wasn't long. Unfortunately, it's not a convenient location since it's an area I rarely shop and traffic is crazy there. I purchased the Shiny Foot Super Peeling Liquid by TonyMoly with the last $10 coupon. I used it on Saturday and I'm still waiting for results. The dead skin on my feet is supposed to start peeling off in 4-6 days and be done in 2 weeks. I didn't enjoy the experience of the cold wet liquid on my feet for an hour and a half particularly since it was a rare chilly spring day. I'd recommend using it when your feet are hot in the summer. So what did you buy with your coupon? Check out my Macy's Beauty Box Pinterest Board to see all of the other monthly bags I received.

Update - the Stila glitter eyeshadow in last month's box made my eyes feel like they were burning so I immediately removed it. Also, the Skin-II made my skin breakout after a couple days so I stopped using it. Note that I have very sensitive skin so it may work fine on your skin. Did you have any bad reactions to the products in last month's box?

I've been using Mario Badescu ade neck cream lately. I got it when Macys had their VIP sale. It's a little thick but I don't mind that at night.
I'm pretty sure macys stopped free shipping on beauty items because of people like me. I would add a cheap mask to get free shipping on my clothes and such. Lol - Jodi(not sure why it says unkown?)
