This is a review of our 30th delivery from a weekly meal kit subscription box called Blue Apron. I chose recipes from the Weight Watchers Freestyle selection which is new to Blue Apron. This week we gave one recipe four out of five stars and two recipes three stars. Calories ranged from 310 to 450 and preparation time ranged from 30 to 40 minutes. SmartPoints ranged from 4 to 10.

Spanish-Spiced Wild Alaskan Pollock with Roasted Fennel & Cauliflower

I gave this recipe three out of five stars and Hubby gave it two. I loved the side dish which had a mix of cauliflower, fennel, orange, olives, orange juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. I could have done without the Peruvian peppers, I didn't care for them. Also, I would have liked more fennel. We didn't care for the Spanish Spice Blend on the pollock, it had too much cinnamon and not enough cayenne pepper nor paprika. It was a large and filling portion. This one takes over 40 minutes to prepare since the vegetables have to bake for 28-30 minutes. This recipe has 5 SmartPoints and 310 calories.

Barramundi & Sesame-Soy Pan Sauce with Miso Mashed Potatoes & Bok Choy

We gave this recipe three stars. The barramundi was delicious as always. I wasn't crazy about the miso in the mashed potatoes. I love miso soup, so I was surprised I didn't like it. I didn't care for the bok choy nor the sauce. This recipe has 10 SmartPoints, 450 calories and it was a healthy portion. It takes about 35 minutes to prepare.

Spicy Sesame Chicken Salad with Cabbage, Peppers & Carrots

We gave this recipe four stars. We love sambal oelek so odds are we would love the dressing that was made with it and we did. The dressing was made with sambal oelek, rice vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, salt, and pepper. It was a wonderful combination of flavors! We added some more sambal oelek we had on hand since we love spicy dishes. While I loved the flavor of the salad it involved so much chewing my jaw hurt. It had too much cabbage! I would have preferred less cabbage and more sweet peppers and chicken. This recipe has 4 SmartPoints and only 340 calories and it was a generous and filling portion. It takes about 30 minutes to prepare.

Only loving one of the three recipes was a disappointment. I'm going to stick mostly with Hello Fresh since they are currently the most impressive. Hubby skipped the high carb ingredients such as orange, potatoes, and carrots. It doesn't have to be difficult to have one person eat low calorie and the other low carbohydrate, simply don't plate the ingredients that don't fit your diet. The other person can eat those leftover ingredients as a snack or light lunch the next day or have a little extra at dinner.
