For the 17th box of recipes from Blue Apron we gave two recipes four out of five stars and one recipe two stars. Calories ranged from 620 to 670 and preparation time indicated on the recipe cards ranged from fifteen minutes to forty minutes. Actual preparation time ranged from forty-two to fifty-four minutes. My favorite recipe was the Lamb, Beef & Mushroom Stew and Hubby's favorite was the Tempura Fried Cod.

Seared Chicken & Pearl Couscous

We gave this recipe only two out of five stars. The capers made it too salty, there wasn't enough shallot and there were too many red pepper flakes. The sauce was good and the pearl couscous was tasty. This recipe has 640 calories and indicated preparation time is thirty to forty minutes. Actual preparation time was forty-eight minutes.

Lamb, Beef & Mushroom Stew

I gave this recipe four out of five stars and Hubby gave it three stars. It's a bit like shepherd's pie, but instead of using mashed potatoes on top this one uses baked slices of potato. It would have tasted better with the addition of some carrots and peas. This one has 670 calories and it was very filling. It indicated thirty to forty minutes preparation time while  actual preparation time was forty-two minutes.

Tempura Fried Cod

It was a very high quality piece of wild caught cod which was scrumptious. I gave it four out of five stars and Hubby gave it three stars. Hubby didn't like the salad while I really enjoyed it and I loved the dressing. The recipe suggested adding some of the dressing to the cod, but I didn't like it on the cod. Garlic was a really tasty addition to the rice. Hubby had a difficult time getting the tempura batter to stay on the cod since the recipe didn't use any egg to make it stick. This one has 620 calories and it was a healthy portion though I would have liked a larger piece of the cod. Preparation time indicated on the recipe is fifteen to twenty-five minutes, but actual preparation time was fifty-four minutes.
