Play! by Sephora Subscription Box Review - September 2016

The Unbasic Basics

This is a review of my 5th shipment from Play! by Sephora. It's only $10 a month and it includes six high end cosmetic samples. The retail value of September's box came out to $36.23 which is a great value. The lowest value I've received is $27.81 in June and the highest value was $42.54 in August. This is what I received:
  1. Living Proof - Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Protector, 1 oz., $7 retail value
  2. Tory Burch - Jolie Fleur Verte, .05 fl. oz., $2.79 retail value
  3. Sephora - Rouge Brillance Rouge Shine in Love Spell, .035 oz., $3.36 retail value
  4. Dr. Jart+ - Water Drop Hydrating Moisturizer, 1 oz., $10.90 retail value
  5. Anastasia Beverly Hills - Brow Gel, 2.5 ml, $6.47 retail value
  6. Kat Von D - Tattoo Liner, .2 ml, $5.71 retail value
Living Proof's products are so pricey, so I'm always happy to see one of their products in my box. I've never received a sample of Tory Burch's perfume before, so I'm glad to finally give it a try. It features lily of the valley, jasmine, mandarin, dewey green accord, cedarwood, sandalwood and musk. It smells pretty good, but not something I would purchase. I like the light pink color of the Sephora lipstick. It's a bit glossy, but not as glossy as lip gloss. I'm happy to receive some moisturizer since I'm running low and Dr. Jart is usually a good brand. This one feels a bit tacky on the skin so I'm disappointed in it. I'm in need of some more brow gel, but I'm not crazy about the clear gel type. I prefer one that has a bit of color since my eyebrows are a bit on the sparse side. I love Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner! It's my favorite liquid liner since it's the easiest to apply. I received a sample before and loved it. I'm most excited about the lipstick since I get bored and like to change my lipstick frequently. Sample sizes are perfect for your handbag also since they take up so little space. Here's a video describing September's products:
