This is a review of a restaurant called Cha Da Thai located in Winston Salem, North Carolina. We visited on a Tuesday afternoon around 1 pm. We were immediately seated at a table. They have several booths, but mostly tables. Their sanitation score is 93.5.
We ordered the Golden Shrimp Appetizer prior to deciding on our entrees. It was brought to our table in about five minutes. It's described as "deep fried marinated shrimp wrapped in spring roll shells served with sweet chili sauce". I had never had shrimp wrapped in spring roll shells before and it was delicious. I'm picky about fried food and I'm happy to report these were not greasy. They were cooked perfectly and served hot. A minute later we were brought spring rolls. If we had know that they served free spring rolls, we wouldn't have ordered the appetizer. Hubby ordered the Beef Pad Thai and I ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken. They also offer free soup or salad with your entree, I ordered salad and Hubby ordered soup. A minute later the Asian waitress brought out our soup and salad. I'm not sure what type of soup it was since it's not on the menu, but Hubby enjoyed it and it was served hot. My salad was delicious and it came with some kind of peanut dressing that was delicious. The second time we visited on a Saturday afternoon and we were brought a different type of soup with chicken, spices and vegetables and it was also yummy and it was a generous portion. It was brought out hot enough to have to wait just a bit. Nine minutes later our entrees were brought out. Hubby is very picky about Pad Thai and he wasn't a big fan of this version. He said it didn't have enough beef and it had too many noodles. I absolutely loved my Sweet & Sour Chicken! The chicken was fried perfectly with the perfect amount of batter, it was not greasy and it was absolutely scrumptious. It also had the perfect amount of sauce. The vegetables were cooked just enough so that they were still crisp. It's described as "deep fried breaded chicken or tofu with onion, pineapple, cucumber, carrot, tomatoes and bell peppers". I had never had Sweet & Sour Chicken with cucumber and tomatoes before and it was surprisingly tasty. I gave Hubby a sample so that he would know if he wanted to order it in the future and he agreed it was tasty. The next time we visited we both ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken and it was just as good as the first time. Hubby has never ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken before, that's how good it is! I appreciate a restaurant who's food is consistent. All of this food including a soft drink and tax was only $26! The entrees were only $7.95 each and include free soup or salad and shrimp rolls, bargain! They also have daily lunch specials.
The Asian staff was efficient and friendly. We are very impressed with this restaurant and we shall return very soon for a third meal. We visited two other times, but they were closed during their business hours and there was no note on the door saying they were closed. Hopefully, these were rare occurrences. I called prior to visiting the forth time to make sure they were indeed open. Their business hours are Monday through Friday 11 am to 3 pm and 5 pm to 10 pm. They are closed for lunch on Saturday and serve dinner from 5 pm to 10 pm. Sunday they are open from 11:30 am to 10 pm. I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try. It's the perfect location for Costco shoppers. It's located right off the Jonestown Road exit. It's in a strip mall located behind the McDonald's. Just go straight at the light and you will see it on your right. What's your favorite restaurant in the Triad?
