Our 1st Full Day in Ireland - Dublin to Derrybeg

You've been invited to join me, my husband (John), and our two Maltese dogs (Sophia & Bentley) to revisit our incredible adventure to Ireland!  We bought a one-way ticket with the plan to move to Ireland.

We sold our US house after only two showings though we had only one month to move out. With twenty years of stuff in a 2700 sq. ft. house, we really had a serious challenge on our hands. We had to give away most of our possessions, selling a few. It's too expensive to ship large items overseas. Plus, appliances & electronics won't work. Those we kept went into the moving company's storage ready to be shipped overseas. We sold our car to the buyers of our house and we rented a car. Hubby grabbed his Irish & US passports and I grabbed my UK & US passports. Our dogs grabbed their overseas USDA paperwork and off we went! Note, we left the country the day we closed on our house!  Imagine the stress and excitement!

In the above video you will see some of what we saw our 1st full day in Ireland after a night's sleep in the Kilmainham Hilton Hotel in Dublin. The highlights of day one and two were:

Day 1
  • RDU Airport in Raleigh, North Carolina to ATL Airport in Atlanta, GA to DUB Airport in Dublin, Ireland. Delta flight took 15 hours. Starting Wednesday at 6:05 pm in Raleigh till 9:25 am Thursday in Dublin. Dublin, Ireland is 5 hours ahead of Raleigh, NC.
  • Pick Up New Way Rental Car at DUB Airport
  • Kilmainham Hilton Hotel in Dublin (1st night in Ireland).

Day 2

  • Drive northwest from Hilton in Dublin to Northern Ireland, UK. We found SNOW!
  • Glenveagh National Park - absolutely stunning!
  • Meeting realtor in Derrybeg (Northwest coast), shopping for a house
  • Drive east to Letterkenny AirBnb for 1 week (inland)

In the video you will see the spectacular view we had driving from Dublin to Northern Ireland aka as the UK, Letterkenny, Glenveagh National Park, Derrybeg, and to our Airbnb in Letterkenny. We stayed at an AirBnb in Letterkenny for one week. Stay tuned for Part 2.

Wishing you the courage to take your own adventures. Live every day like it's your last.

Have a PEACEful Day,
Wendy
