This is a review of our 62nd delivery from a weekly food subscription box called Home Chef. This week we gave one recipe five out of five stars, two recipes four stars and one recipe three stars. Calories range from 468 to 728. Preparation time stated on the recipe cards ranges from 5 to 35 minutes. Actual preparation time was 10 to 42 minutes. Each dinner serving costs $9.99 and lunch servings cost $7.99.

Chicken with Parmesan Cream with Celery, Apple, and Smoked Almond Salad

I'm always searching for low carbohydrate meals for Hubby, so this recipe was a good choice since it comes in at only 23 grams. They don't list the fiber content so the net carbs may be lower. It's also a low-calorie meal which is great for me, it only has 539 calories. We both gave it 4 out of 5 stars. It was an easy, quick and delicious recipe. It states 35 minutes preparation time and it took Hubby 39 minutes. The salad was crisp, crunchy and tasty. The yummy dressing is simply made with rice vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. The chicken and its sauce were scrumptious. The sauce is simply made with light cream, parmesan, chives, and salt. The chicken was tender and moist. It was a healthy and filling portion.

Ginger Steak and Peppers with Peanuts, and Jasmine Rice

We gave this recipe 4 out of 5 stars, it was delicious. We thought it needed more spice and some of the pieces of steak were a bit chewy, but it was a very enjoyable meal. I appreciate that the sauce was light and it wasn't that heavy sugary sauce you would get from Asian takeout. To lower the carbs on this one Hubby skipped the rice. It has 728 calories and it was a large and filling portion. The recipe card states 30 minutes preparation time while actual preparation time was 38 minutes.

Smoked Salmon and Everything Bagel Salad

Home Chef offers 3 quick lunches each week that take about 5 minutes to prepare and are less expensive than the dinner meals. This one took Hubby ten minutes. We gave it 3 out of 5 stars. We felt it was short on ingredients having only 6 ingredients. We love that their lunches don't require any cooking. This one requires washing the spinach and tomatoes then simply tearing the smoked salmon into bite-sized pieces and season with the Everything Bagel Seasoning. Then toss everything with the dressing and garnish with the crispy onions which we skipped. This recipe has only 10 carbs and 468 calories. It was a healthy, tasty lunch portion.

Sambal Chicken Skewers with Sesame Ginger Green Beans and Lime Dipping Sauce

Hubby gave this recipe five out of five stars and I gave it four. I'm not a big fan of green beans hense 4 stars instead of 5. When I saw that this recipe included sambal I knew we would love it. If you haven't tried adding sambal to your protein before, you must. You can find it at any Asian market or Vitacost. It spices up bland food and it's a spicy delight. This was an easy recipe with an awesome dipping sauce simply made with mayo, lime zest, and lime juice. The green beans were livened up with a garnish of sesame seeds and lime juice and cooked in water, ginger, salt, pepper, and olive oil. The chicken was coated with honey, sambal, and salt. This wonderful recipe has only 490 calories and 27 carbs. It only took 42 minutes to prepare while the recipe card states 35 minutes.
