This is a review of our 61st delivery from a weekly food subscription box called Home Chef. This week we gave one recipe five out of five stars, one recipe four stars and one recipe three stars. Calories ranged from only 510 to 569 and preparation time stated on the recipe cards is 30 to 50 minutes. Actual preparation time ranged from 49 minutes to one hour. Our favorite recipe this week was the Baking Sheet Shrimp Boil.

Baking Sheet Shrimp Boil with Lemon Garlic Butter

We both gave this recipe five out of five stars. It was intensely scrumptious and I think this is my favorite recipe ever! Just the thought of it is making my mouth water. I wish I could have this every week! It was so good that Hubby went off his low carb diet to eat everything in this dish. It also smelled so delicious while it was cooking. It's aroma filled the house. The Old Bay Seasoning made everything taste and smell awesome! The lemon garlic butter was so tasty. The shrimp, potatoes, corn, red bell pepper, shrimp, and pork were so yummy and a wonderful combination. I really hope they offer this recipe again, I will purchase it immediately! It took an hour to prepare and it shockingly only has 569 calories. It was a generous and filling portion.

Roasted Salmon with Ginger Scallion Sauce and Charred Green Beans

We gave this recipe four out of five stars. The ginger scallion sauce made with sesame oil, ginger, garlic, green onions and teriyaki glaze was scrumptious. Ginger and garlic were added to the green beans and they really livened them up. It was an enjoyable meal and a healthy portion. It only had 526 calories and it took 49 minutes to prepare.

Pork Tenderloin with Dill Crema and Parmesan Roasted Asparagus

We gave this recipe three out of five stars. The pork and vegetables were in need of some spice. The Dill Crema was too sour for my taste. It was made by combing sour cream, dill, lemon juice, olive oil, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.  Too many sour ingredients! The shallots, asparagus, parmesan cheese, and tomatoes were a nice combination. It was a very generous and filling portion. It took one hour to prepare and it only had 510 calories.

I'm happy to report they used so many ice packs that the shrimp managed to arrive frozen! This is really important when temps are in the 90's. It was a wonderful week of low-calorie recipes. 1. I'm getting my Home Chef meal tonight, I'm excited to see how they turn out! Out of all the home delivery services, which ones is your favorite?

    1. My current fav is Hello Fresh. Which recipe are you cooking?

    2. My current box is Buffalo chicken tacos, beef burrito bowls and chicken with creamy pesto sauce and red potatoes. We had the burrito bowls last night and they were a big hit. The steak was nice and thin, so it was really delicious. Tonight will probably be the chicken and potatoes. Hopefully the rest are as good!

    3. Sounds yummy! Which companies have you tried so far?

    4. I have done Home Chef, Blue Apron and Hello Fresh. Blue Apron has been missing the mark for me for meals lately, I don't think anything they have had in the past few months has been something I really wanted to try. Hello Fresh I really loved, but I had 2 experiences with them where they delivered my meal box to me after 9 pm, and I couldn't risk having it sit out all night if I forgot to check it that late. Although this is definitely not the companies' fault, but rather the delivery service they use in my area, I just stopped using them for a bit.

    5. Yeah, I haven't been into BA recipes lately either. Sometimes their portions are too small & BA tends to repeat ingredients and it gets boring. You can buy BA gift cards @ Costco online so it's a bit cheaper. Wow, I never get deliveries that late. What co delivers so late?! They don't have email tracking updates? FedEx is the worst here, he's lazy and wont walk the package to the porch, so we have to search around the garage for the packages which can be tricky if it's a small box. Once he slid it under my garage door which was open a bit and under my car. Thankfully, we didn't run it over. He's also not delivered all the packages (left one on the truck) and leaves them out in the rain, but it's usually here by early afternoon. I'm told he's a contractor, not an employee. UPS is best in my area. You have several left to try, Terra's Kitchen, Sun Basket, Plated and Green Chef. Green Chef is more expensive, but organic. They have lowered the prices just a bit, I imagine many weren't ordering due to the price.

    6. Thank you for the tips on the ones I have to try! Terra's Kitchen I have been wanting to try, I think the mini fridge idea is so cute and helpful to have everything diced up. I'll have to try them next. It's always a no-name vehicle, I think that FedEx contracts out local deliveries and sometimes I get one of those no-name delivery vans, that is who it was the last two times I ordered. Maybe I will give them another try because I really did enjoy their food. Yes, lazy delivery people are the worst, thank goodness you didn't run over your package!!
