This is a review of our 60th delivery from a weekly food subscription box called Home Chef. This week we gave one recipe four out of five stars and two recipes three out of five stars. Our favorite recipe was the Salmon with Dill Crema. Calories ranged from 491 to 606 and preparation time indicated on the recipe cards ranges from 30 to 45 minutes. Actual preparation time ranged from 31 to 50 minutes.

Salmon with Dill Crema and Green Beans Amandine

Since we love salmon and this is a low carb meal, I ordered it right away. Their sauces are always awesome and this one was no exception. There is no reason to have a boring piece of salmon when there are so many simple yet scrumptious sauces you can make easily. This one is simply made with sour cream,  fresh dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, olive oil, salt, and pepper. So easy to make yet so tasty. They suggested searing the salmon in the skillet and then baking it which wasn't necessary. Hubby cooked it completely in the skillet. The green beans had parmesan cheese, garlic, and almonds on top which is another easy step to add some flavor. We gave this recipe four out of five stars, to elevate it to five stars another side item would have been required plus wild caught rather than farm raised salmon would have been necessary. This recipe has only 590 calories yet it was a healthy, filling portion that didn't taste like a low-calorie meal. The recipe card states 35 minutes preparation time, but actual preparation time was 50 minutes.

Mesquite Pork Chop with Sriracha Butter and Red Pepper Cauliflower Hash

Home Chef offers high-quality, good sized, bone-in pork chops, so whenever I see it on the menu I order it. Here's a very simple trick to spice up pork chops, just mix together siracha, mesquite spices, and butter and place it on top of a hot pork chop. It melts over your pork chop and adds a delightful flavor! This would have been a four-star recipe if the cauliflower hadn't arrived damaged. It appears it was too close to one of the ice packs and had freezer burn. So we only used the pieces that were ok. The mesquite spices mixed in with the red pepper cauliflower hash made it yummy. This dish has only 606 calories yet it was a healthy and filling portion. The recipe card states it will take up to 45 minutes to prepare while actual preparation time was only 34 minutes.

Grilled Chicken with Mustard Vinaigrette with Asparagus and Zucchini

This recipe also uses a quick and easy recipe for the topping for the protein. Simply mix together 1/2 oz. of light brown sugar, 1 tbsp of grainy mustard and 1/2 fl. oz. apple cider vinegar. It's tart and sweet and it tastes wonderful on top of chicken. This recipe would have made it to four stars if the zucchini had arrived in good shape. One of the two appeared to have freezer burn. This recipe shockingly had only 490 calories yet it was a generous and filling portion. The recipe states 30 minutes for preparation time while it took us one minute more.

Thanks, Sharon, it was very tasty! What recipes did you pick? I'm most excited about the shrimp boil to be shipped on the 24th.

I'm trying to talk my brother into either this service or Hello Fresh. We're both single and he wants to eat out all the time. I get so tired of it. I'm going to show him the menus and when he makes a choice I'll let you know. Thanks for the reviews and pictures. It has made me want to try them!

Yeah, eating out is fun at 1st, but it gets old and hard to eat healthy. Hello Fresh is my current fav, but in the long run Home Chef has won my business the most. You're welcome :) You'll have fun cooking!
