This is a review of our 26th delivery from a weekly meal kit subscription box called Sun Basket. Calories ranged from 510 to 730 and preparation time  indicated on the recipe cards ranged from 20-45 minutes. Actual preparation time ranged from 45 minutes to over an hour.

Chicken Katsu with Gingered Bok Choy & Jade Rice

Hubby gave this recipe five out of five stars and I gave it three. Chicken Katsu is one of my favorite dishes, so I'm quite picky. I order it at our favorite Asian restaurant, Sushi Thai, quite frequently. I didn't feel like the crust on the chicken was authentic. While the green color of the rice is appetizing, I don't care for the flavor of jade rice. I also prefer the traditional dipping sauce rather than the spicy chile mayo they sent us. The bok choy was tasty. This recipe has 730 calories and preparation time stated is up to 40 minutes. Actual preparation time was over an hour. It was a healthy portion.

We purchased this recipe a year ago and since we gave it five out of five stars, I had to order it again. Again, we gave this recipe five stars. It's so scrumptious and a lovely hot soup for the winter months. If you haven't had black garlic before, you must give it a try, so tasty. At first it has a sweet taste and then tart, so yummy. This recipe has 660 calories and it states up to 45 minutes preparation time. Actual preparation time was 51 minutes. It was a very large portion with seconds for one person. This one is gluten free and paleo.

Turkey & Spinach Sliders with Sweet Potato Buns

We gave this one only two out of five stars. Unfortunately, we waited until the sixth day to prepare it and they recommend preparing dishes within 5 days. The cucumber and the lime went bad, so we were unable to include them. I wasn't crazy about the combination of spinach, ground turkey and shallots. While the sweet potato used as a bun looked cute, I prefer to eat my sweet potato separately and it required a knife and fork unlike a bun. This recipe has 510 calories and it states preparation time will take up to 30 minutes. Actual preparation time was about 45 minutes. Sorry, I forgot to take a photo of the ingredients. This one is gluten free, low calorie and paleo.

While it wasn't our favorite week of recipes, we enjoyed the unique recipes that Sun Basket has to offer and we were happy to have the opportunity to order one of our favorite five star recipes again.
