- Cosmetic Bag
The retail value of this month's box is $31.84, not including the cosmetic bag. Last month's box was $35.36, so I'm guessing their goal is to send boxes with a value around $30 to $35. Last month I was hoping they would step it up, but I'm losing hope now. Sephora has been sending boxes of much higher value, closer to $50. I was quite shocked to see a drug store sample from the brand Burt's Bees. Sephora never sends drug store brands and their box is $5 cheaper. How do you feel about the value of the Macy's Beauty Boxes?
I've received a sample of Dermablend's Setting Powder before and I wasn't crazy about it. Some people love it, but I prefer Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil. I don't like really thick hand creams, because they are really difficult to apply and this one has wax in it which is something I don't think belongs in a cosmetic. It is definitely not a product I would purchase and I'm not a fan of the brand. I've also received a sample of the Laura Mercier primer before. I'm not crazy about this primer, I much prefer Julep's or Laura Geller's. I'm always happy to receive a sample from Clinique, so I will enjoying using this moisturizer. I also enjoy receiving masks, so I look forward to trying this one. My favorite purifying mask is from a brand called Wei. My favorite type of mask lately are the paper sheet ones. The perfume smells nice, but it's not very strong. It has key notes of Mandarin, pink grapefruit, wild strawberry, blackberry, rose, peony, muguet, honeysuckle, pink jasmine, passionflower, amber, cashmere, amaro liquor, sandalwood and patchouli. After spraying it on, I first smell the fruit followed by the florals. It's not a perfume I would buy since it's very weak and very expensive coming in at $85. My favorite perfume is Angel from Mugler. While it's also very expensive, it takes very little since it's a very strong scent and it lasts a long time.
I was hoping for some lipstick, eyeshadow, foundation or blush. Since I've already tried two of these samples before and one is a drug store brand, this box is especially disappointing. Macy's isn't sending any new products which is what Sephora tries to do often. I'm always anxious to try new products to see if I like them enough to buy the full size version. I'm going to wait until the 3rd box to decide whether or not to cancel this subscription. I'm leaning towards cancelling it and if I wasn't a blogger, I'd be cancelling today. If you subscribe, are you cancelling or are you happy with your box? Did you receive the same products? If you haven't subscribed yet, are you tempted to purchase it?
