This is a review of a weekly subscription box called Home Chef. This is our 37th box and it includes three low calorie, low carb and nut free recipes and all the ingredients to make them. One of the three recipes is also gluten free. We have now made 145 of their recipes! See photos of all of them on my Home Chef Pinterest Board. This week we gave one recipe five out of five stars and two recipes four stars. Each week they offer twelve recipes and a fruit basket to chose from. One is a smoothie, one is breakfast and usually three of them are vegetarian. Each dinner entree is $9.95, smoothies are $4.95 and the fruit is $4.95. Occasionally, there is an special recipe that is higher in price due to the ingredients. They also occasionally offer desserts and appetizers.

Chinese BBQ Pork with Egg Drop Soup & Broccoli

I gave this recipe four out of five stars and Hubby gave it three stars. I wish they would have provided video instructions for the soup since it wasn't easy to get the egg to cook properly. The pork was the best part, but we would have liked more sauce. The sauce was made with hoisin, ginger, brown sugar and soy sauce and it was delicious. I wasn't crazy about adding soy sauce to the soup, I think it would have been better without it. It said it would take about thirty-five minutes, but in fact it was closer to an hour. This was a good portion of food. The pork needed an additional ten minutes cooking time. This is a low calorie, low carb, dairy free and nut free recipe with 582 calories.

Roasted Asian Turkey Acorn Squash with Red Bell Peppers, Ginger & Ponzu Sauce

I gave this recipe five out of five stars and Hubby gave it four stars. He's not very fond of turkey, so I'm impressed he liked it so much. Occasionally I'll purchase a turkey recipe since I love it so much. The photo above doesn't show all of the filling, there was some left over that wouldn't fit in the squash. This was delicious without the ponzu sauce, it wasn't really necessary, so that lowers the calorie count even further. This would be a great recipe to make on weekends since it's a bit time consuming for week nights. This is a low calorie, low carb, dairy & nut free recipe with 529 calories. It took about fifty-five minutes to prepare, ten minutes longer than the recipe indicated due to having to cook the squash longer. I would have liked a bit more ground turkey.

Rosemary Cider Chicken with Roasted Apples and Butternut Squash

This is the second time we have ordered this recipe. We ordered it back in November and gave it five out of five stars. Occasionally they repeat customers' top rated recipes. It's the perfect Thanksgiving meal without all the leftovers and it's low in calories! It's so scrumptious! Crave-worthy in the fall and winter for sure. The chicken breasts were smaller than the ones we received back in November, see the picture here, so we gave it four stars this time. This recipe is low calorie, low carb, gluten, nut and soy free with 520 calories. It took about forty minutes to prepare and it's an easy recipe.

We enjoyed this week's recipes, they were delicious and easy to make except for the soup. On Friday, we are expecting the following recipes:
  1. Swiss Fondue for Two
  2. Salmon in Lemongrass Ginger Broth
  3. English Pub Steak
  4. Honey Garlic Chicken
