This is a review of our 59th delivery from a weekly food subscription box called Home Chef. This week we gave all three recipes four out of five stars. Calories range from 524 to 596 and preparation time stated on the recipe cards ranges from twenty-five to forty minutes. Actual preparation time ranged from forty-five minutes to an hour. This meal kit has six servings and costs only $59.70 including shipping.
Everything Bagel Chicken with Creamed Kale
We gave this recipe four out of five stars. We've ordered their salmon recipe using Everything Bagel Seasoning many times. It transforms a boring chicken breast or salmon into a scrumptious dish. The chicken breasts were of great quality and we received more kale than we needed. The grape tomatoes were especially good this time, they weren't tart. It was a delicious dish that we both enjoyed. This recipe has only 596 calories and it was a healthy portion with kale leftovers. Preparation time indicated on the recipe card states thirty to forty minutes while actual preparation time was an hour.
Pork Chop with Sage & Honey Butter with Roasted Garlic & Hazelnut Broccoli
We gave this recipe four out of five stars. We've ordered their pork chop with honey butter previously, but this time the side dish is different. The easiest way to liven up a boring pork chop is to add some honey butter. It's simply made with sage, honey, butter and pepper. Oh my, it's so delicious! Every time I order their pork, it's of high quality and a good portion, so I tend to order their pork first when picking recipes. This time they had us bake the broccoli which I've never thought of doing, we usually steam it. It dried it out a bit and made some bits have a nice crispness. It was cooked with garlic, olive oil and hazelnuts which were a tasty combination. This one has only 556 calories and it was a healthy portion. Preparation time stated on the recipe card is twenty-five to thirty-five minutes while actual preparation time was forty-five minutes.
Teriyaki Ginger Glazed Salmon with Stir-fried Bok Choy & Carrots
Whenever they offer salmon with a sauce on top, I tend to order it since we've loved all their salmon recipes. The glaze on this salmon was scrumptious and coming in at only 524 calories is a delightful surprise. It's simply made with teriyaki glaze, ginger and garlic. Half was applied before cooking and half after. They chopped the ginger for us which was added to the vegetables. They sent us more carrot than we needed, so we didn't use all of it. The red Fresno Chile added some tasty spice to the vegetables and we love bok choy, so we enjoyed this yummy side dish. The recipe card states thirty to forty minutes preparation time. Actual preparation time was fifty minutes and it was a healthy portion with leftover carrot.
It was a wonderful week of recipes that didn't need much modification for Hubby's low carb diet which I appreciate. He just skipped the carrot and the tomatoes.
