This is a review of the 33rd delivery we have received from Home Chef. This week we gave one recipe five out of five stars, two four stars and one three stars. Two of the recipes were low in calories, two low carb, three gluten free, two dairy free, three nut free and two soy free. All of them were easy recipes and the preparation time ranged from 10-40 minutes. It was an enjoyable week of recipes, one of which was a repeat. They occasionally repeat the highest customer rated recipes. We have made 139 Home Chef recipes so far. Check them all out on my Pinterest Home Chef Board.

Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie with Mint & Yogurt

I gave this recipe four out of five stars and Hubby gave it three. I really enjoyed the kiwi, orange juice, strawberries, yogurt and mint mixed together. It was delicious and worth repeating. The mint arrived in a bit of rough shape, but they are always generous with credits for ingredients that aren't superior. A quick email is all it takes. It landed up not needing any more mint anyway. This recipe had 160 calories and it took 10 minutes to prepare. It was gluten, nut and soy free.

Chicken Pesto Skewers with Chicken Thighs, Kale Mozzarella Salad & Lemon Champagne Vinaigrette

I was really looking forward to this recipe because I love pesto sauce, but I was a little bit disappointed that after it was boiled it dried out a bit. I think I would have preferred half of it added after cooking. It did flavor the chicken really well though during cooking. I gave this recipe four out of five stars and Hubby gave it two. He was annoyed by the cooking process, he felt it was too fussy for the results. I really enjoyed the flavor and it tasted and smelled a bit like it was cooked on the barbecue when in fact it was cooked in the oven. The dressing was good, but it was on the tart side. I'm a bit confused about the calorie count being 969 because it doesn't look like it has that many calories. I was thinking it was a low calorie recipe instead it's low carb and gluten free. This recipe took about thirty-five minutes to prepare.

Thai Pork Lettuce Wraps with Water Chestnuts & Sesame Dipping Sauce

This is the third time we have ordered this recipe because we always give it five out of five stars. Check out our 1st time recipe results and our second. Everyone I've heard from that has tried this recipe loves it. It's a scrumptious, low calorie, low carb, dairy and nut free recipe that took about thirty minutes to prepare. It has 625 calories if you use all the dipping sauce. I find I need very little of it, so that saves on calories. It certainly doesn't taste nor look like a low calorie meal. It has authentic Thai flavor too. It's really easy to prepare yet it looks like it's not. The hoisin sauce they send is so yummy. If you have the opportunity to order this recipe, don't hesitate!

Shrimp Jambalaya with Okra, Peas & Roasted Red Peppers

I'm not really familiar with jambalaya, but since Hubby loves it, I ordered it. We both gave it three out of five stars. The rice needed more cooking time, because it came out a bit gritty and not as soft as we prefer. This dish wasn't spicy enough for us. I think it was a mistake to use Old Bay Seasoning instead of cajun. Also, this dish would have been better with some sausage. In addition, we would have liked more mushrooms. This recipe came in at 530 calories and it was dairy, gluten, nut and soy free. It took about forty minutes to prepare and it was an easy recipe.

While this wasn't our favorite week of recipes, we enjoyed it. So why haven't you given Home Chef a try yet? Grab my $30 discount and try it today! I wouldn't have purchased 139 of their recipes in only nine months, if they weren't fabulous! Prior to Home Chef we'd only prepare about six to twelve recipes in an entire year! It's so wonderful to have all the ingredients at your fingertips and not have to hunt down ingredients at grocery stores. I'm also happy there is no waste and I'm not throwing away food at the end of the week. If you have tried Home Chef, I'd love to hear about your favorite recipes. So comment below, please. Friday we are expecting the following recipes:
  1. Umami Burger with Miso Marinated Beef
  2. Chicken with Tiger Sauce
  3. Pork Chop & Cranberry Mostarda
  4. Turkey Tetrazzini with Squash Fiedos
