Fruit & Trail Mix Basket

Hello again, here's another week of recipe results from Home Chef for you to drool over. I know looking at these pictures makes me hungry! Oh the memories, these recipes were so delicious. Which one do I pick as my favorite? Geez, that's difficult, I think I liked the smoothie the most followed by the Pork Chorizo Burrito, then the Southwestern Taco Salad and finally the Chicken Miso Ramen. The Southwestern Taco Salad and the Pork Chorizo Burrito had huge portions.

Chicken Miso Ramen with Shiitake Mushrooms, Jalapeño Slices & Chili Threads

This recipe was very delicious and easy to make. It actually had more spice and flavor than the ramen I have had in restaurants. I was a little anxious about it lacking flavor due to that reason, so I was relieved when the soup base had lots of flavor and wasn't bland. The chili threads I've never seen or heard of before, so they were interesting. The noodles absorbed the flavors around them and they were the perfect texture. All in all it was very enjoyable. This recipe had 589 calories and took about thirty minutes to cook.

Chorizo Breakfast Burrito with Skillet Potatoes, Pico de Gallo & Chihuahua Cheese

These burritos were so delicious especially with the fresh pico de gallo. I think if we were to make them again, we would substitute black beans for the potatoes to give it even more flavor. It could have used less potato and more cheese. I'm always happy to see Chihuahua Cheese in my box because it's so delicious. We had a full serving of leftovers for both of us except the pico de gallo and enjoyed it the next day with some added scrambled eggs. This recipe had 987 calories, but we only ate half at a time since the portion was so huge and filling. It took about thirty-five minutes to prepare.

Southwestern Turkey Taco Salad with Corn, Avocado, Pickled Onion & Crema

Wow, look at the picture, there was so much food it barely fit on the plate! We could have easily had leftovers for lunch the next day, but we were little piggies that night and ate it all. Also, look how colorful it is! I love when my food has lots of color, it's more appetizing that way. I like recipes like this one because one person can be busy chopping up all the produce while the other can be cooking the turkey. It saves a lot of time and is especially appreciated when I'm starving. We would have liked more sour cream and more cilantro. Hubby added red pepper flakes to add even more spice and we cooked the corn with the turkey because neither of us like uncooked corn. Also, we skipped pickling the onion since I can't eat anything pickled. It was a really delicious meal and we left the table happy. This recipe had 750 calories, but you could easily eat half and still be full. It took around thirty five minutes to prepare.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake Smoothies with Almond Extract & Frozen Cherries

This was an incredible creation that was so delicious! I've never added almond extract nor maple syrup to my smoothie before. It's a really great idea because it's so yummy! This was like a dessert since it was so sweet. Never tried cherries and pineapple together before either, that was a great idea that at first glance didn't look like a good idea. 210 calories, huh, is that possible? It tasted too good to be that low in calories. As usual, their smoothie recipes only take about five minutes to prepare.

Fruit & Trail Mix Basket

Included in the basket were two naval oranges, two kiwi, 1 ruby red grapefruit, 1 pink lady apple, 1 golden delicious apple, 1 gala apple and the trail mix. Everything was ripe except the kiwi which took about a week to ripen. The trail mix had cashews, sunflower seeds, raisins and a nut that was sliced that I couldn't recognize the taste of. It was very tasty and the raisins were nice and plump. The mix was either unsalted or lightly salted, I couldn't tell for sure.
