Bath & Body Works January 2018 Haul - Spring Comes Early!

Bath & Body Works started selling spring candles in December, how crazy is that?! They are suppose to set up the stores for spring on January 21st, but they are already selling some of the candles online and in some stores early. This Sweet Shop Collection hit the shelves in 2014 in limited supply and has finally returned. Back in 2014, the Lavender Marshmallow candle was sold on eBay for multiple times it's retail price! Does it smell so good it's worth paying an insane price for it? The answer is no. Some people go crazy when they can't buy something when it's in limited supply, case in point beanie babies. As soon as the Sweet Collection went on sale on the 24th of December, I placed my order. I only paid $6.67 a candle. Included in that haul were the following:

Pink Bubblegum

It's described as pink sugar cane, juicy watermelon and a hint of vanilla. This one smells like you are in a candy store. It smells just like pink bubblegum which seems like a strange smell to have in your house. I didn't sense any watermelon scent at all. I like it for a fun change, but it's not worth stocking up on. I think this one would be a perfect gift for a teenager along with a bag of bubble gum or for someone who chews bubble gum frequently. It has a throw of about 8 out of 10. You might want to keep it in a large room otherwise you'll be extinguishing it because it will become overwhelming in a small room. Seven customers rated it online for an average of 3.9 stars out of 5.

Raspberry Peach Macaron

This candle is described as a blend of ripe raspberries, juicy peach and almond cream. I find this one to be very tart and certainly not ripe. It smells like a mix of unripened peaches and raspberries. I don't smell any almond. If you are a fan of food scents, but you don't like the sweet ones, this one is for you. I'm not much of a fan and wont return, but I wont repurchase it. This one has a throw of about 7.5 out of 10. You'll be extinguishing this one in a small room quite quickly, because the tartness will become overwhelming. Out of twenty-six customers it gets an average rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars.

Honey Cinnamon Crumb Cake

It's described as fresh soft cake, honey and a hint of cinnamon. This one is so weak I should really return it. I smell just a hint of bland cake with little if any sweetness. I don't smell any honey or cinnamon. It has a throw of about 2 out of 10. This is the most disappointing one out of my haul. I do not recommend this one unless you are able to find a strong one. Sometimes some batches turn out stronger than others. This is as disappointing as their last banana bread one that I returned and I rarely return candles. Four customers gave it an average rating of 3.5 stars.

Lavender Marshmallow

Described as a mouthwatering, unexpected blend of lavender and marshmallow. This one smells like a slightly sweet lavender to me, I really don't smell marshmallow. If you don't like the true lavender oil scent, you may like this one since the sweetness tones down that earthy lavender scent just enough without it being overwhelmingly sweet. It has a throw of about 7 out of 10. While it is lovely, I don't think you need more than a couple of these. I really don't understand why people paid so much for this one on the secondary market other than the need to have something that is hard to find. It's not that impressive to me. Out of thirteen customers, it receives an average rating of 4.5 stars.

Lemon Drops

It's described as a mouth puckering mixture of sweet and tart which is a blend of lemon zest, sugar and a hint of vanilla. I really didn't smell any vanilla, so I'm surprised to read that in the description. This one isn't anywhere near as good as Tea & Lemon aka London. London is my favorite candle and this one at times almost smells like a lemon cleaner especially the longer you burn it. I don't recommend this one, stick to London! Even Limoncello is better than this one. It has a throw of about 7 out of 10. Out of three customers rating it, it gets 3.7 stars.

Also included in the Sweet Shop Collection is Pineapple Creampuff. I'm not a fan of the smell of pineapple, so I skipped that one. In conclusion, if you fancy any of these scents, make sure you purchase them soon. They will sell out and I haven't heard if they will be restocking them. I recommend skipping Lemon Drops and Honey Cinnamon Crumb Cake. Also, skip Raspberry Peach Macaron unless you love tart food scents. Buy one Pink Bubblegum for fun and buy a couple of the Lavender Marshmallow candles, if you love lavender scents. These candles are on sale currently for $11.25 and they have a retail value of $22.50. Make sure you use Mr. Rebates and a coupon! What's your favorite Bath & Body Works candle?

    1. Yeah, this time of year they have very few candles left after the semi annual sale. Today they have Lavender Marshmallow and Strawberry Sorbet online. If you want any from the Sweet Shop Collection, I recommend calling your local stores and ask if they have them. If so, ask them to hold them for you, they will hold 'em for 24 hrs. If no, ask them if they will be putting more out on the 21st.
