This is a review of a new restaurant called Texas Roadhouse located in Holly Springs, North Carolina. They open at 4 pm Monday through Friday. They only serve lunch on Saturday and Sundays when they open at 11:30 am. They close at 10 pm except on Fridays and Saturdays when they stay open an hour later. We visited today, Friday at 5:45 pm. It was very busy and lots of people were waiting for a seat. I called ahead prior to leaving the house to get on their wait list. When I arrived I informed them of my arrival at reception. They sent me a text with a link to a yelp page that showed how many people were in front of me in line. We had a seat in the waiting area. When we arrived it said eight parties were ahead of us.  Shortly after it went down to five and then I was texted that our table was ready. It was only a fifteen minute wait while others who didn't call ahead were told they had a forty-five to sixty minute wait. We went to the reception desk again and a friendly hostess told us we had to wait with her in front of the steak display until our table was ready. A bit of chit chat with her and then she grabbed a basket of four rolls, a dollop of butter and cutlery and escorted us to our table. Menus were already at the table.

Shortly after we were seated the friendly waitress arrived to greet us and asked for our appetizer and drink orders. I had arranged for a coupon for a free appetizer previous to their grand opening. So we ordered the Cactus Blossom Appetizer. In addition, I ordered a Skinny Lime Margarita and Hubby jokingly ordered a skinny water. Our appetizer came out in about ten minutes along with some water, but it felt longer since we were so hungry. We enjoyed the Cactus Blossom and it arrived hot. I wasn't crazy about the dipping sauce, it tasted like watered down thousand island dressing which differs from the menu description. The four rolls came with about a tablespoon of whipped butter which was far from enough butter. It tasted like it had some brown sugar added to it, I was not a fan. I asked for some regular butter instead which came with another four rolls. Hubby thought maybe the butter had some honey in it. The rolls were just ok, nothing crave worthy. A couple minutes later my margarita showed up. It was very tasty, but there was so much ice it wasn't a good value at all. It had mostly a lime flavor, so if you're not a big fan of lime and prefer a sugary drink, order a different margarita. When our appetizer arrived we placed our entree orders. Ten minutes later our salads arrived. The meals don't come with salad, they come with two sides and one of the choices is salad. I don't recommend the salad, it has too much iceberg lettuce and it just didn't have a lot of flavor. One issue is that they don't offer freshly ground pepper at the table. Fifteen minutes later our entrees arrived. Hubby ordered the 10 oz. Ft. Worth Ribeye with the addition of mushrooms and onions which is $1.99 extra. His side choices were chili and salad. He said the steak had a lot of gristle and he didn't care for it's flavor. Also, he wasn't crazy about the chili. I had a bite and agreed his steak had too much gristle. I ordered the 10 oz. Prime Rib with a loaded baked potato and salad. Note that Prime Rib is only sold Friday through Sunday. I enjoyed the flavor of the prime rib, but I've had much more favorable prime rib at other restaurants. It was cooked properly to my request of medium rare, but it didn't arrive hot, it was warm and it cooled off quickly even while served on a warm plate. The sauce was just ok. The baked potato was very small and I paid $.99 extra for sour cream, bacon bits and shredded cheese. It wasn't sent out with any butter, so that was disappointing. The bacon wasn't great, so I'd skip that next time and ask for some butter instead. The waitress was very friendly, but overly attentive. There were a ton of employees working and so we were constantly interrupted by wait staff, bus boys and a manager asking us questions. The bus boys walk the isles looking for plates to pick up. There were at least three of them constantly walking our section. I think it was a bit much, it didn't make for a peaceful meal. The restaurant while festive is very noisy, so if you have a headache, you're tired or you're just not in the mood for a loud restaurant, skip it and go another day. They sung Happy Birthday to one customer and later the wait staff all lined up near the bar and did a dance. While festive, again it was very loud. While I enjoyed my experience, Hubby felt it was too loud especially after being out of town and having a long drive home, it was just too much for him.
