Yogurt Cup

This is a review for a new location of the franchise called Menchie's Frozen Yogurt. We visited for the first time around 3 pm yesterday, Memorial Day.  Sadly, the Waverly Place location in Cary has closed. We frequented that location and preferred the atmosphere there. There were a few customers at the new location, but it certainly wasn't busy. They are open seven days a week from 11:30 am and close at 10 pm except for Friday and Saturday nights when they stay open one hour later. You can check out what flavors they have currently on their website. I recommend doing so because there may not be a flavor you are crazy about. Sometimes they have lots of flavors I fancy and other times there aren't any that I'm excited about.

You may sample the flavors prior to purchasing. There should be a bunch of tiny white sample cups near the yogurt machines. If not, ask the staff for some. I find some of the flavors have an artificial taste, so I like to sample any I suspect will taste like that. The sorbets are the lowest in calories and are made with real fruit, so those taste best. This time they had two wierd flavors, Kit Kat and Butterfinger. I prefer to eat the candy bar, the idea of it in liquid form is unappetizing to me. They are also better as crunchy toppings! I sampled the Red Velvet and I found it to be a bit artificial. Hubby loved the banana, chocolate and Dulce de Leche. I tend to stick to yogurt only for a lower calorie count while Hubby loves to add toppings. They have a lot of toppings to chose from. Remember that the cups are very large, so you'll want to fill it about half full for a healthy portion. You can add a bit more for sorbets. It's self serve, so walk to the right, grab a cup and decide on which flavors you want. Fill your cup, walk left to the toppings bar and decide if you would like some toppings. Then walk to the cash register and the staff will weigh your yogurt and ring your order up. Our two cups rang up at 11.3 oz and it costs .55 an oz. So our total was $6.73 after tax. Then, pick a green or pink spoon, grab some napkins and find a table to enjoy your dessert. On your way out the staff is suppose to say "have a smiley day!". Be sure to sign up for their rewards card, if you plan on being a return customer. The rewards program is called Smileage. This location isn't convenient for us. Hopefully they will open another location closer to home. I find it strange that the Waverly Place location closed because they always had plenty of customers and it was a peaceful location. So disappointed! What's your favorite yogurt store?

Chicken Salad Croissant with Garden Salad - $8.75

This is a review of a fairly new restaurant called Chanticleer located in Cary, North Carolina. They are open seven days a week from 7 am to 3 pm. They serve breakfast, lunch and pastries. They are very popular, so you may not be able to get a seat during the breakfast and lunch rush. My parents and I were there around 1:30 pm so there were plenty of tables available. They have tables and booths inside and outside they have tables. This is the type of restaurant that you order with the cashier, pay and then you wait until you are called to pick up your order when it is ready. Also, the soft drink machine is self-serve. In addition, they ask that you throw out your trash and return the basket, bowls and plates to the designated area.

We all ordered the Chicken Salad Croissant with a Garden Salad. It took about ten minutes for our orders to be ready for pick up. The sides to chose from are pasta salad, cole slaw, potato chips and garden salad. I hear the cole slaw is pretty good. The potato chips look too greasy for me to stomach. The garden salad was very good. It's made with baby greens, red onions, tomatoes, shredded carrots, cucumbers and your choice of dressing. The Chicken Salad was very tasty, but a bit on the sweet side and the croissant was fresh and delicious.

Their main offerings are four sandwiches, quiche of the day, five salads, five panini sandwiches, three breakfast sandwiches, fruit cup, yogurt cup and oatmeal. Prices range from $2.95 to $9.25. They also have soup du jour available in a cup for $3.50 or in a bowl for $4.50. The kids menu is $4.95 and the choices are of four half sandwiches that are served with milk or soda and their choice of apple slices or chips. The bakery offers croissants, danish, brownies, cookies, cheesecakes, fruit tarts, pies and other fresh baked desserts. They all look yummy and their brownies are huge.

Play! by Sephora Subscription Box Review - May 2017

The Rising Stars

This is a review of a monthly cosmetics subscription box called Play! by Sephora. Each month six samples are sent along with a cosmetic bag for $10 including shipping and handling. The retail value of this box is approximately $42.78. The highlight stick didn't indicate it's size, so I guessed it's 1/4 of the full size. Included in this month's box were the following products:
  1. trèStiQue - Highlight & Perfect Multipurpose Stick, made in the USA, $8.50 approximate retail value
  2. Nudestix - Magnetic Matte Lip Color in Greystone, made in Germany, 2.5 g, $21.42 retail value
  3. belif - Hungarian Water Essence, made in Korea, .33 fl. oz., $5.47 retail value
  4. Rahua - Omega 9 Hair Mask, made in USA, 2 ml $0.58 retail value
  5. Tocca - Stella Eau de Parfum spray, made in USA, .05 fl. oz., $2.11 retail value
  6. Tatcha - One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil, made in Japan, .5 fl. oz., $4.70 retail value
I have tried the Tatcha line before and I enjoyed it. The cleansing oil I save for makeup removal. It's good at getting the makeup off without damaging or irritating the skin. I would only buy it in a set to save money. It too expensive to purchase individually. The hair mask and the highlight stick arrived damaged. The mask leaked in the box and the highlight stick broke at the end. I managed to push it back in, but it will probably fall out again. The reviews on the hair mask are mixed. Many say that it smells awful and for some it either made their hair soft, dry or oily. I applied just a dab of it on my hand and it smells just like Vicks Vapor Rub. Not a scent you would enjoy in a hair mask! It also made my skin itch so I washed it off right away. The Nudestix lip color is the worst product I have ever tried! It's difficult to apply since it's so dry and it's an awful dark brown color. It made my lips unbearably dry so much so that I immediately removed it only to find out that it is difficult to remove. Awful, so awful! There are so many brands of highlighters, do we really need anymore! I prefer a powder highlighter than a stick because I feel it looks more natural and it's easy to blend. The Stella perfume is ok, but not a scent I would purchase. It's described as blood orange, white freesia and sandalwood. The Water Essence has a gel consistency that left a sticky feeling, not a fan.

This was my least favorite Play! by Sephora box. The only product I like is the Tatcha cleanser. If you received one this month, did you like the samples you received? If you haven't subscribed to this box, what's keeping you from doing so?

Not as many TSV previews for June which is disappointing. What do you have your eye on? I'm tempted to get the Vionic Orthotic Sandals. Their TSV from a year ago I've worn every day as my house shoes. The sole fabric has recently torn off at the heel. It's disappointing they didn't did last longer than a year, but since they are so comfortable I'm tempted to get another pair of sandals from this brand. Last year's TSV was adjustable, so I'm a bit nervous about buying a pair that is not. Has anyone bought a non adjustable pair from Vionic Orthotic before? I'd love to hear your review. The set of two dresses is also tempting since they are pretty and they look comfortable. Has anyone bought the Attitudes by Renee brand before? How does their sizing run, is it true to size? I highly recommend the Roomba! HSN use to have them as TSVs and I bought one many years ago. Then it died and recently I bought another one. You can see my video demo on You Tube. You'll see Maltese Teddy barking at it. It only took a couple of uses for our beloved Teddy to stop barking at it. It's especially good on hardwood since it won't scratch any type of hardwood floors unlike some vacuums. It's pretty good on thick carpet, but less so on really short carpet like my area rugs from Ikea. For those it's good for maintenance, but the use of a regular vacuum is necessary occasionally to get the deep down dirt. It's awesome for areas a normal vacuum can't reach like under beds and furniture. It's also good at getting the dirt closest to the baseboard which some vacuums miss. For more information, read my blog review. Not a TSV, but a good value:

WEN - Gallon Size Cleansing Conditioner Classic, A270285 or A/D A270384, $179.00 or 6 payments of $29.83, comes in 6 scents or Seasonal, A270286 or A/D A270383, $189.00 or 6 payments of $31.50, comes in 5 scents

I recommend the Winter Mint scent. It's so good for the scalp and it smells like mint candy. The gallon size lasts at least six months. I found it lasted about nine months for our household. Hubby uses it on his very short hair and I use it on my long hair daily. I don't apply twice as suggested by the manufacturer, just once at the beginning of my shower and rinsing out at the end of my shower. I find one pump is enough, sometimes one and a half unlike the smaller versions which you have to pump so many times to get enough for one application. Other interesting TSVs that information hasn't been released on yet are:

2nd - Tatcha, updated above
6th - Beauty We Love, updated above
8th - iRobot Roomba
10th - Canon, updated above
24th - Perricone MD, updated above
