This week we gave one recipe five out of five stars, one recipe three stars and one recipe two stars. The steak went bad, so we were unable to sample that part of the Brasserie Style Sirloin Steak recipe hence the two star rating. The Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos were our favorite recipe for the week, they were scrumptious! The Truffle Fries were our favorite side dish. We've had them several times in previous recipes. Neither of us cared for the side dish of fennel gratin in the Parmesan Crusted Pork Chop recipe. Calories ranged from 607 to 860, recipes were all intermediate and cooking times ranged from thirty to fifty minutes as indicated on the recipes. Actual cooking times ranged from forty to sixty-five minutes.

Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos with Slaw & Lime Rice

Wow, these shrimp tacos were so awesome! Just thinking about it is making me hungry. Hubby said if they offer this recipe again to buy it. He gave it five out of five stars and I gave it four stars. I would have preferred to have more shrimp and slaw so that it was more filling. I would also have preferred jasmine rice which has a nice texture and better flavor. The sauce is simple yet scrumptious. It's made with mayo, Sriracha, salt and pepper. If you have never made this sauce before I dare you to, you'll love it. You can use more or less Sriracha depending on how spicy you want it to be. Hubby said this recipe was surprisingly easy to make. It has 849 calories and it takes about forty minutes to prepare according to the recipe. Actual preparation time was fifty-two minutes.

Parmesan Crusted Pork Chop with Fennel Gratin & Garlic Roasted Zucchini

We gave this recipe three stars for the pork and zucchini  We really disliked the side dish of fennel gratin. I took a few bites and threw the rest in the trash.  I love fennel, so my dislike wasn't because of that ingredient perhaps it was because they weren't very fresh. They looked a bit old to me. It also didn't look appetizing and having a cold at the time made it look especially unappetizing! Hubby ate it all, but wasn't a fan. The zucchini was very small. It would be nice if they would include two when they are smaller than the average zuchinni. He made the mistake of placing the parmesan in the side dish rather than on top of the pork chop. Sometimes their instructions are not well written and confusing. The pork chops were much smaller than those we normally receive from Home Chef. One of the reasons I order their pork dishes is because they are normally of a nice side and very filling, so this was a disappointment and I hope this isn't the new norm. This recipe had only 607 calories and the recipe said it would take up to forty-five minutes to prepare. Actual preparation time was sixty-five minutes.

Brasserie Style Sirloin Seal with Truffle Fries, Green Beans & Herb Butter

I was looking forward to some steak, but as soon as Hubby opened the steak package he could tell by smell that they went bad and they were slimy. That was really disappointing especially since we didn't have anything in the house to replace it with, so it was a light dinner composed of only the green beans and fries. If you haven't tried truffle oil before, you owe it to yourself to give it a try, it's so delicious and livens up boring fries. It's a bit of an earthy flavor, but it's so tasty. We loved the fries and the green beans were just ok. Due to the steak issue we had to give this recipe only two stars. It has 860 calories with the steak and the recipe said it would take up to fifty minutes to prepare. Actual preparation time was forty minutes.

Our 49th box from Home Chef wasn't our favorite, but we really enjoyed the shrimp tacos. Hoping that our 50th box next week won't have any ingredient issues.
