This is a review of our 20th shipment from a weekly food subscription box called Sun Basket. This week we gave one recipe four out of five stars and two recipes three stars. Two of the recipes are gluten free and one is paleo. Calories ranged from 530 to 640 and preparation time ranged from thirty-five to forty minutes.

Padang Salmon Curry with Jade Rice

I just had to order this recipe since we've never had jade rice before and we love curry. Notice the lovely jade color of the rice in the ingredient photo above and then notice the lighter color in recipe results photo as a result of cooking. It really didn't have a different flavor, maybe a little different texture. We gave this recipe three out of five stars since the five dried red chiles didn't provide enough spice. Normally one has to be careful with them since they can be too spicy, but for some reason unknown these didn't provide the heat we expected. Also, I would have preferred that the cashews were cooked rather than placed on top raw. It was a tasty dish, we just wished it had more spice. This recipe has 640 calories, it's gluten free and it took about thirty-five minutes to prepare. It was a satisfying portion.

Meatballs & Red Sauce with Penne & Caesar Salad

They don't offer a lot of pasta dishes and since we love pasta I had to order this recipe. We gave this recipe four out of five stars. We both gave the salad five stars and the pasta dish three stars. The dressing was perfect and they prepared it in advance for us which was a time saver. The salad was nice and crisp and it was delicious. The meatballs were a bit dry, but tasty and very filling. There wasn't enough sauce, so Hubby added some that we had on hand. This recipe has 610 calories and it took about forty minutes to prepare. It was a very generous portion, so I saved part of the pasta dish for lunch the next day.

Gingered Turkey Meatballs in Japanese Mushroom Broth

Anytime they have a Japanese recipe I order it since I love Japanese food. We both gave this recipe three out of five stars. The turkey meatballs were delicious though I didn't care for the dried shiitake mushrooms. I enjoy them when they aren't dried. The coconut flour smelled delicious, but it didn't change the flavor of the recipe. There wasn't enough cabbage, so it was more of a lunch portion. We would have liked more kimchi Chile flakes since it wasn't spicy enough for our taste. It has 530 calories, it's paleo and gluten free and it took about thirty-five minutes to prepare.

It was another enjoyable week of recipes, just not our favorite week. We really enjoy their low calorie meals and their wild caught seafood. Most of their recipes are either paleo or gluten free or both which is another reason we have been ordering from them the most lately. I highly recommend you give Sun Basket a try, if you haven't already.
