This is a review of weekly food subscription service called Blue Apron. This week we gave one recipe five out of five stars, one four stars and one three stars. Calories ranged from 500 to 730 and the recipe cards indicated preparation times ranging from forty to fifty-five minutes. Actual preparation time was the same as indicated.

Chicken & Kale Caesar Style Salad with Radishes & Almonds

Hubby gave this recipe five out of five stars and I gave it four stars. The chicken thighs were simply cooked with a little bit of flour yet they were so tender, moist, crisp on the outside and delicious. The kale salad was a bit tart, the addition of some apple or orange would have made it taste better. The pecorino cheese was a wonderful topping. It was a generous portion of food coming in at only 600 calories. The photo above doesn't show all the kale since it wouldn't fit on the plate. It took forty minutes to prepare.

Smoked Trout Tartines with Romaine, Cucumber & Radish Salad

The smoked trout was absolutely scrumptious. We both gave this recipe four out five stars. The mixture of smoked trout, celery, mustard, crème fraiche, dill and shallot was so delicious. That mixture definitely gets five out of five stars, it was the salad that brought down the score. The salad dressing was a bit tart and the salad needed more ingredients. This recipe had only 500 calories and it was healthy portion. It took fifty-four minutes to prepare.

Balsamic Glazed Onion Cheeseburgers with Roasted Potato Wedges

We both gave this recipe three out of five stars. There was only one potato for two people, we feel that there should have been two so that it was more filling. The potato roll was tasty, the burger was dry since it needed some sauce or mayo. Hubby enjoyed the onion topping, but I didn't care for it. The cheese wasn't of high quality and the rosemary should have been fresh instead of dry. It had 700 calories and it took forty-five minutes to prepare.

It was mostly an enjoyable week of recipes. Don't forget to enter my current giveaway before you go and check out my Pinterest Blue Apron Board to check out all of the Blue Apron recipes we have made so far. What's your favorite food subscription box? Our favorite is Sun Basket.
