This is a review of the 40th delivery we have received from a food subscription box called Home Chef. We gave all three recipe five out of five stars. Two of them we had in a previous box and rated them five stars, so we were happy to have them again. We have now made 155 of their recipes! See photos of all our recipe results on my Home Chef Pinterest Board

Bone In Pork Chop with Hazelnut Gremolata

Since this recipe looked like it had an interesting topping for the pork chops and their pork chops are always a good quality, I decided to order this recipe. The pork chop topping aka Gremolata was made with hazelnuts, parsley and lemon zest. So simple yet so delicious! The sauce was made with lemon zest, lemon juice, capers, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Such an easy aioli to make yet so scrumptious! It was finger licking good! The pork chops and asparagus were very large, so this was a very generous portion. This one only had 566 calories which is pretty shocking for how incredible it tasted. It took about thirty-five minutes to prepare. The asparagus, squash and tomatoes went well together. This one received five out of five stars from both of us and we can't wait to have this dish again.

Classic Veggie Lasagna with Zucchini, Mushrooms & Garlic Bread

We had made this recipe previously back in December, to check it out click here. I had to order it when I saw it on the menu because we absolutely loved it. I just love that I have convinced Hubby that vegetarian meals can be delicious. He told me when we first met not to expect him to eat one single vegetarian meal ever. The zucchini we received was too small for a vegetarian meal, so we purchased a larger one. The spinach arrived in very bad shape, so bad I had to put it in the disposal as soon as I took it out of the box due to the horrible scent. So we had to also purchase replacement spinach. This one is time consuming, coming in at around fifty-five minutes preparation time. It's worth the time because it's terrifically tasty! This one has 671 calories, but it's less than that if you save some for lunch the next day which I did. It's a very generous portion of food.

Juicy Lucy Stuffed Beef Burger with American Cheese & Seasoned Salt Fries

Hubby gave this recipe five stars and I gave it four out of five. I'm not crazy about the french fries part of the recipe. It's so much effort and it takes so long to cook in the oven. We skipped that part of the recipe this time and just had baked potatoes. The tomato wasn't ripe, so we used one we had on hand. The red onion had a bad part, but we still had plenty left for the recipe. The brioche buns were a bit squished during shipping, but they have the best texture and flavor and are my favorite for burgers. I usually only eat half a bun to reduce calories and increase flavor of the burger, but these buns are perfect and compliment the burger. The ground beef seal broke and leaked all over the bottom of the box. Thankfully, they have started to bag all the meat together so it doesn't leak to the top where the rest of the ingredients are located. We also didn't place the cheese in the middle because we find it's more trouble than it's worth and it's difficult to get the patty to seal around the cheese without separating during the cooking process. This one has 900 calories and it took about forty-five minutes to prepare.

Since Home Chef offered us $20 off our next box to come back after a couple months break we returned. We enjoyed the meals, but didn't enjoy having leaking meat to clean up after and having to go the grocery store to purchase zucchini and spinach. These quality issues are why we moved on to their competition months ago. My current favorite food subscription boxes are Green Chef, Green Blender and Sun Basket. Which are your favorites?
